AUSTIN, Texas – Denison University senior swimmers Bebe Wang and KT Kustritz lead the 2019-20 Academic All-America® Division III At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A physics major with a 3.91 grade-point average from Naperville, Illinois, Wang was named the Academic All-America® Men’s Team Member of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Academic All-America® Women’s Team Member of the Year, Kustritz is a health, exercise and sport studies major with a 3.74 G.P.A. from St. Paul, Minn.

Note: Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All- America® awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.

Wang is a five-time national champion and 15-time All-American, and earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in May. He entered this year's NCAA Championships with the nation's fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley and the third-fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle. A three-time College Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American, Wang received the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Male Scholar-Athlete Award from Denison in April.

A second-team Academic All-America® selection in 2019 and 2018, Kustritz is a five-time national champion and 27-time All- American. She is the national record-holder in the 100-yard breaststroke and is a 22-time NCAC champion. Kustritz qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-yard breaststroke and competed in the 2019 Phillips 66 National Championships. She owns seven Denison varsity records and is also a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She was named the 2017 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and the 2019 NCAC Swimmer of the Year.

Among the 90 student-athletes selected to the Academic All-America® Division III At-Large teams, 11 men and 12 women carry a 4.0 grade-point average. The 15 members of the men’s at-large first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.92, while the 15 members of the women’s at-large team carry a 3.90 average G.P.A.

Sixteen men and 12 women are repeat Academic All-America® selections, including five three-time honorees. On the men’s side, swimmer Bouke Edskes of MIT and student-athlete Bernardo Neves of Washington University in St. Louis are now three- time Academic All-America® first-team selections. On the women’s first team, swimmer Anne Shirley Dassow of Grove City and golfer Anna Foley of DePauw joined Kustritz as three-time honorees. Both were on the 2019 second team, though Dassow made the 2018 first team and Foley received second-team distinction as a sophomore.

Other men’s student-athletes to repeat as CoSIDA Academic All-America® honorees: Wang and fellow first-teamers Gianluca Baggetta (Utica, ) and Tyler Radtke (St. Olaf, skiing) repeated their first-team honors; first-teamers Walker Anderson (Hobart, tennis), Justin Britton (Carnegie Mellon, swimming), Trevor Maxfield (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, swimming) and Michael O’Neil (Gustavus Adolphus, tennis) were second-team honorees last year; first-teamers Drake Horton (Denison, swimming) and David Lehman (Stevens Institute of Technology, ) achieved third-team distinction in 2019; first-teamer Victor Gliva (Augsburg, wrestling) was a first-team selection in 2018; second-teamer Brian Peccie (Washington and Lee, ) was a first-team honoree last year; second-teamer Brendan Markovic (Randolph-Macon, lacrosse) moved up from the third-team

Other women’s student-athletes to repeat as Academic All-America® honorees include: first-teamers Mikayla Bisignani (Johns Hopkins, swimming), Emma Schulz (SUNY Cortland, ) and Deborah Wen (MIT, swimming) repeated their first-team honors; first-teamer Honore Collins (New York University, swimming) was a second-team selection last year; first-teamers Nicole Andriani (Montclair State, ), Nicole Tan (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, tennis) and Natalie Zaravella (Denison, swimming) were third-team honorees last year; and second-teamers Kristin Dantzler (Randolph-Macon, tennis) and Emily Hageboeck (Washington and Lee, swimming) achieved third-team distinction a year ago.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Division III Academic All-America® teams.
