THE BUNKER he former U.S. Government Relocation Facility was a T top secret of the Cold War designed to accommodate both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in the event of a national emergency. Planned by the Eisenhower Administration, in cooperation with the leadership of the U.S. Congress, the facility was built under The Greenbrier between 1958 and 1961. Once completed, a small cadre of government employees working as Forsythe Associates maintained it in a state of constant readiness. During the life of the facility, continual updating of communications and other equipment and recycling of supplies ensured that the facility was always in a current full-operation status. The secrecy of its location, paramount to the facility’s effectiveness, was maintained for more than 30 years until May 31, 1992, when The Washington Post published a story effectively exposing it. The day after the story appeared, the facility began to be phased out, a procedure that was finalized in July 1995 with the termination of the lease agreement between the U.S.

#PGATOUR! INTRODUCTION Bryan Ahearn couldn’t believe his good luck. His employer, ParFour Marketing, has relied on him to de- liver insightful and successful marketing strategies for key clients as the “Voice of the Millennial.” As the largest living generation, many brands and media companies knew that millennials, and the following generation, Gen Z, were critical to their success in the future. Now, Bryan was given an assignment to develop a media and marketing plan for the PGA TOUR for the upcoming season that would engage Mil- lennials with the organization’s social media, viewership, and events. Bryan had been a golfer since high school, and played on his college team. His vacations and business trips often included finding a new golf course wherever he traveled. However, he knew mere enthusi- asm for the sport would not satisfy the PGA TOUR. He knew that success for this client would center on delivering results on five key performance indicators (KPI’s): o Increase attendance of 18-34-year-old fans on-site (at tournaments) ▪ The amount of time spent on-site ▪ The amount of money spent on-site o Convert casual fans who watch majors and other sports into PGA TOUR tournament at- tendees o Provide excitement for fans looking for social and memorable experiences o Increase the number of Millennials who watch PGA TOUR events on various social media platforms o Increase the number of Millennial followers on PGA TOUR social media PGA TOUR Bryan first reviewed the scope of his client. He learned that the PGA TOUR is headquartered in Ponte Vedra, FL, USA, and is the main organizer of the professional golf tournaments played primarily by male golfers in the United States and North America.

  • June 2020 Newsletter
President's Message They say that this is the new normal and I can’t say that I like it but it seems like things have started to improve over the way that they were. People are able to get out and about a little easier and we are now starting to plan for upcoming golf tournaments! The course is in the best condition that it has ever been and kudos go out to our maintenance staff and Superintendent. The weekends are very busy and the new tee time format seems to be working out just fine, I have heard nothing but compliments from all of our members. I just want to remind everyone that we still have to follow the social distancing rules both on and off the course. Even though we are now in Phase 2 and will soon be in Phase 3, we can’t let our guard down or we could suffer setbacks in the spread of the virus. As always, if you want to reach me to discuss anything, please send me an email at roger.laime@aecom or call me on my cell phone at 518-772-7754. Please be considerate of others, be safe and think warm weather. Roger Laime Treasurer’s Report June 15th, 2020 I want all of our members to be aware, especially our newer members that you will see a bunker renovation fee on your July invoice. This is our final year of our 5 year bunker renovation project as Steve and his staff have recently completed #13. The fee will be 3% of dues for your membership category.
