Wow, four years already? I know they say, “It goes by very quickly” but I never imagined it being this fast. Basketball has greatly impacted my life ever since I was six years old. It has been my outlet through tough times and always kept me sane. It became part of who I was. I have wholeheartedly embraced the term “student-athlete” and could not picture my life without sports. I cherish the game so much because it has blessed me with endless memories, friendships, lessons and opportunities. I am forever grateful for all of my coaches, teammates, and mentors that have helped me grow along the years. When the WestConn Women’s Basketball program first opened their arms up to me, I knew I was joining a family and would create bonds that will last a lifetime. Although my time here is dwindling down, WestConn will always be considered “home”. I am thankful to be apart of this amazing family and cannot wait to see what this year has in store for us. When I reflect back over these last four years, I am filled with so much happiness thinking about the memories I have made. Having had the opportunity to be part of such a close-knit team and program, has made my experience at WestConn unforgettable. There have been challenges along the way, however, having had the support of my coaches and teammates has made all of the difference. Laughing until we’ve cried, long bus rides, early morning practices and team dinners are only a few of the memories I will keep with me forever. I am very grateful for the support my family has given me throughout my college career. Although I am excited for the start of my senior season, the reality that my college experience is coming to an end is starting to set in. I will always be proud to say that I have been a part of the WestConn Women’s Basketball Program. Gabby Hurlbert

These past three years at WestConn were not what I expected them to be, a lot has changed within the program, the team and myself. However all of these changes have led to an amazing and unique experience that not every collegiate athlete can say they have had. Being a part of this team has been a wonderful experience. I am grateful and lucky to have met such a great group of girls that I can now and forever call my friends. These past three years have been filled with many memories that I will continue to hold on to, cherish and embrace. I guess it’s true when they say, “time flies when you’re having fun”, because these past three years have been a blast. As I soon begin my final season as a WestConn women’s basketball player, I would like to say thank you to the coaching staff, trainers and especially my teammates, past and present, for believing in me before I believed in myself. To my parents and family, thank you for always supporting me in everything I do especially these past three years. You continue to go above and beyond for me, and words cannot explain my appreciation and love for you.
