Gensler's Sports Practice Expands Design Leadership Gensler’s Sports Practice Expands Design Leadership Three sports and recreation experts join the Gensler Dallas team and strengthen the firm’s global capability DALLAS, TX — Gensler, a leading global architecture and design firm, announced today that Jonathan Kelley, AIA; Jerry Fawcett, AIA; and Byron Chambers are joining the firm’s Dallas office. With a combined 75+ years of experience, these industry powerhouses are recognized as leaders in sports design and will bolster Gensler’s ability to deliver innovative design to world class sports and recreation projects both regionally and globally. “Jonathan, Jerry and Byron represent a sports design dream team,” said Ron Turner, principal and leader of Gensler’s Sports + Recreation practice. “By adding this level of talent to our firm, we have significantly broadened our bench and are more prepared than ever to serve our growing client roster. With these hires, Gensler will enhance its global talent pool to create a third hub for sports design in Dallas, Texas, adding to its already existing centers of excellence in Los Angeles, California and Washington, DC. Since Gensler launched its Sports + Recreation practice in 2009, the firm has developed a strong reputation as a global sports design authority with signature projects underway for the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, and Detroit Lions. Gensler’s Sports + Recreation practice also designed Arena Corinthians in Sao Paolo, home of the 2014 World Cup opening ceremonies. Other recent projects include Farmers Field, the proposed NFL stadium in Los Angeles; and the SWCC Field House in San Diego. Kelley, Fawcett and Chambers all join Gensler from HKS Sports in Dallas, bringing backgrounds in design, project management and business development for an array of prestigious projects including NFL stadia, major league ballparks, minor league facilities, collegiate venues and international arenas. Jonathan Kelley has a 21-year background as a project manager, and his past projects include Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.; Liverpool FC Stadium in Liverpool, England; and the Jack Stephens Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in Little Rock, Ark. Byron Chambers has focused his career on the design and programming of sports and entertainment venues, with an emphasis on architectural design and its links to historical context and environmental sustainability. His career includes work on Salt River Fields at talking Stick in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Regions Field AA Ballpark in Birmingham, Alabama; AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) in Arlington, Texas, and more. Jerry Fawcett specializes in recreational and sports projects and has 41 years of industry experience under his belt. During his career, Jerry served as principal in charge of the TCU Amon G. We were also very excited to welcome home the REC Foundation’s VEX Robotics World Championships from 2021- 2024. 2019 capped off the first five years of the Dallas Sports Commission, and it has been an honor. Since our inception in October 2014, we have been responsible for more than $2.2 billion in economic impact to the Dallas region. We now turn our attention to the next five years and hope that as an organization we can continue to bring the passion, the commitment, the integrity, and the benefits to the Dallas region in all we do.
