EGEDA AND THE PLATINO AWARDS FOR IBERO-AMERICAN CINEMA, CELEBRATED IN XCARET (RIVIERA MAYA) PARTICIPATE IN LALIFF (LOS ANGELES LATINO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL)

LALIFF will take place in Los Angeles, the first international event dedicated to showcasing human and creative wealth from the Latin perspective, using cinema, television, music and other platforms. LALIFF is organized by the Latino Film Institute (LFI), a non-profit organization whose objective is to show the strength, power and heritage of all that is Latin through audiovisual means.

The Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema, created by EGEDA in collaboration with FIPCA in 2014, which has held its last two award ceremonies at XCARET, Riviera Maya, will be presenters for this major Festival focused on the enormous economic and creative importance that the Latin American community represents today in the United States. EGEDA US had already supported the LALIFF on several other occasions.

With the participation of the Platino Awards/Xcaret in this Festival, another step in the direction of international promotion has been taken, to making the cinematographic and television works of the 23 countries of Latin America better known outside the borders of each one of them. Every year, the Platino Ibero-American Cinema Awards gather the best of the audiovisual industry of the 23 countries that make up the Latin American community. Like the LALIFF Festival, the Platino Awards aim to promote and value "Latino Culture" in the global world. We share a language that is already the second most-used in the United States, shared values and principles, and historical and cultural affinities that reach all areas, and more every day.

The Platino Awards, together with other initiatives such as LALIFF, have become a reference capable of breaking through barriers that seemed impossible years ago and opening doors to the Latin presence in the United States and other geographical spaces. Latin talent in the audiovisual field is currently becoming more known and recognized internationally, obtaining awards at the most important international festivals.
