Title: Emerging Out a Winner in Lockdown Date: May 14, 2020 Report on National Seminar on NUCLEAR, PARTICLE AND ACCELERATOR PHYSICS A National Seminar entitled “Nuclear, Particle and Accelerator Physics” had been organized by the Department of Physics, , University of in joint collaboration with “The National Academy of Sciences (NASI), Delhi Chapter” on November 06th, 2019. The seminar commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Punita Verma, the convener of the seminar and the principal of the College, Dr. Anjula Bansal. Prof. Ajoy Ghatak introduced the audience to NASI, the institution, its origin, its goals and objectives. He ended his introductory lecture by orienting the audience about the needs of society and country not only from the perspective of a scientist but also that of a human being. Prof. Brajesh C. Choudhary spoke on “Understanding the fundamental constituents of the universe: brick by brick”. Dr. Rajeev Mehta gave a knowledgeable lecture on “A Particle Accelerator: How it works and why it matters”. Dr. N. Madhavan gave an enlightening lecture on “Accelerators, Spectrometers and detector arrays as Femtoscope to probe Nuclear Dynamics and Structure”. Mr. Debashish Sen spoke on “Radiations: its hazards and safety” and Prof. Samit K. Mandal enlightened the audience with a lecture on “Femto Physics: searching a needle in a haystack”. It proved to be an opportunity of a lifetime for the students by getting introduced to the state-of-the-art accelerator-based research facilities present in India, getting enlightened about the international research scenario, where India stands in this regard and most importantly experience how the words in their physics books actually came to life. The feedback of the seminar was very positive. Around 230 participants including teachers from other colleges of attended the seminar.

Report on Webinar on “What is Light: Evolution of Quantum Theory”

A National webinar on “What is Light: Evolution of Quantum Theory” was held on 12/05/2020 at 12pm, under the convenorship of Dr. Pushpa Bindal and Dr. Punita Verma. The members of the technical committee were Dr. Triranjita Srivastava and Dr. Rashmi Menon. The event was graced by the Principal Dr. Anjula Bansal. Dr. Pushpa Bindal welcomed Prof. Ajoy K. Ghatak; the speaker of the webinar. He is an Emeritus Professor, an Indian Physicist and author of many famous physics books. He is Chairman and Meghnad Saha Distinguished Professor of NASI, Delhi Chapter. He has been awarded with many prestigious awards like 2020 Sang Soo Lee Award, SPIE Educator Award, CSIR Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Award, OSA Esther Hoffman Beller Medal, Optical Society of India Amita De award, and the ICO Galileo award. In total 247 candidates registered for the event, out of which 90 were faculty and 157 were students. It was found that 25 candidates were from outside Delhi whereas 222 from Delhi. Among these candidates were from different Universities like, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Milla University, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, University of Delhi, Sharda University, Dept. Of University & Higher Education, Maharishi Dayanand University, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Indian Institute of Technology, Amity University etc. and different Colleges like Acharya Narendra Dev College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, , Bhaskracharya College of Applied Sciences, , , Dyal Singh college, , , Kalindi College, , , , Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, MMH College, , Pettigrew College, , , Saint Tukaram College, Sanjeevane Mahavidyalaya, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, , , , Swami Shraddhanand College, Zakir Husain etc. and different Schools like, Greenfields Public School, Banasthali Vidyapith, Bal Bharati Public School etc. The number of participants from kalindi college were 130 (20 faculty and 110 students) The webinar was very interesting. Prof Ghatak explain the basic phenomenon of light with a quantum approach. The entire session was an interactive session. Many queries were raised by the participants, which Prof. Ghatak explained in a very simple way. The webinar was well appreciated by the students as well as faculty members. A National webinar on “An Introduction to Measurement of Light” was held on 13/05/2020 at 12PM, under the convenorship of Dr. Sudha Gulati and Dr. Monika Bassi. The member of technical committee were Dr. Savita Sharma and Ms. Varsha. The speaker of the event was Dr. Shibu Saha. Dr. Shibu Saha is an Esteemed Scientist in the Optical Radiation field from Physico-Mechanical Metrology Division of CSIR National Physics Laboratory(NPL). He has contributed in the field of biosensors majorly. He has published many research articles in reputed Journals and participated in many National and Inter-National conferences India and Abroad. Dr. Rachana Kumar started the session welcoming the guest and invited the Principal Mam for Formal Opening of the session and then invited Dr. Sudha Gulati for giving brief introduction of the speaker of the session. Dr. Sudha then formally invited the speaker to start with the talk. The webinar was very interesting. Dr. Shibu Saha explain the Traceability Pyramid. He even discussed basic of blackbody radiation curve and Luminous efficiency of human eye. The entire session was an interactive session. Many queries raised by the participants which Dr. Shibu Saha explained in very simple way, which the students could understand easily. At the end of the session Dr. Monika Bassi present the Vote of the Thanks. The webinar event was a great success.

In total 316 candidates registered for the event, out of which 111 were faculty and 205 were students. It was found that 119 candidates were from outside Delhi whereas 197 from Delhi. Dr. Pushpa Bindal welcomed Dr. Pratibha Jolly; the speaker of the webinar. She is academic consultant to NAAC and is former Principal of , a premium college of University of Delhi. She has also made huge contribution to Physics Education. She has strong research professional achievements. With several pioneering projects to her credit and wide-ranging synergetic contributions to national and international missions, she has been an invited speaker at major conferences, seminars and workshops. She is Passionate about women in science and leadership roles, diverse student populations, creating technology enhanced learning environment, promoting interdisciplinary undergraduate research and helping students build successful careers. In this webinar, total 246 candidates registered for the event, out of which 65 were faculty and 181 were students. It was found that 22 candidates were from outside Delhi whereas 224 from Delhi. She stressed that the crisis due to the outbreak of the Pandemic has brought to fore the strong dependence on the manifold of digital technologies. Dr. Jolly accentuated that underpinning the new ways of doing things is the spectacular evolution of computing power that is irrevocably changing the structure of organizations and business alike. She emphasized on the rapid diffusion of technological tools and services, digital transformation and progression to a highly networked and knowledge-based society that is now clearly discernible to the society at large. Dr. Jolly stressed on having a paradigm shift from “college is an institution that exists to provide Instructions” to “college is an Institution that exists to produce learning”. The webinar was well appreciated by the participants. At the end of the webinar, Dr. Rachna Kumar , delivered concluding remark and vote of thanks. A National webinar on "Emerging out a Winner in Lockdown" was held on 14-May-2020 at 12pm under the convenership of Dr Rachana Kumar and Dr. Seema Gupta. The members of the technical committee were Dr. Aravind Kumar, Dr. Triranjita and Mr Ankur Anand

The event was graced by the Principal Dr. Anjula Bansal. Dr. Rachana Kumar welcomed Dr. Anula Maurya; the speaker of the webinar. She is a Vice chancellor of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Sanskrit University.

In total 239 candidates registered for the event, out of which 91 were faculty and 148 were students. It was found that 16 candidates were from outside Delhi whereas 223 from Delhi. Among these candidates were from different Universities like, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Milia University, University of Delhi, Sharda University, Dept.
