Seller Insight

We’ve owned the property for twenty-nine years now and although the house itself is utterly gorgeous, I’d say that it was the location that proved to be the biggest attraction when we initially happened upon it,” says the owner. “We were living in Birmingham at the time and I was working at the university but I’d always wanted to move to the countryside; here we’re surrounded by rolling green fields and yet I can jump in the car and be in the city centre in well under an hour, so it’s a place that offers the very best of both worlds.”

“It’s fair to say that the house was in need of a bit of TLC when we bought it, so soon after we moved here we embarked upon an extensive project of renovation. We had to have the whole place rewired; the heating system was overhauled; the roof needed to be replaced… the list goes on and on, but all of the work was done very sympathetically so it retains a wealth of gorgeous original features that give it great character and charm. However, it’s by no means a museum piece. It has wonderful proportions and a super layout that works beautifully for both family life and entertaining. It took a lot of time and effort to complete the renovation of the property but it’s very satisfying to think that we’ve been able to breath new life into this lovely old building.”

“The house sits within one-and-a-half acres of gardens and grounds, which wrap right the way around the house,” continues the owner. “We have a large gravel driveway, open lawns, a huge wildlife pond and a swimming pool, which is a fabulous feature that has given us all a lot of enjoyment over the years. The garden is very pretty and provides a gorgeous outlook, but it’s also really easy to maintain. In fact, most of the time it tends to look after itself which has left us more time to enjoy it.”

“My favourite part of the house is actually the long, graceful entrance hall, which literally draws you inside. The sitting room is also a beautiful part of the house and features an original floor-to-ceiling sash window which is absolutely huge, so the room is always flooded with natural light,” says the owner. “However the dining room is another gorgeous room with classical proportions and a wealth of beautiful period features which make it a very elegant space in which to entertain.”

“This has been a wonderful place to bring up our family and it’s allowed us to enjoy a fabulous lifestyle,” says the owner. “We’re surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside so it’s peaceful and very picturesque, and yet I can be in either Stourport or Droitwich in around ten minutes or Birmingham city centre in three-quarters of an hour so everything we might want or need is within easy reach.”

“As I mentioned before, this has been a fabulous house to entertain in. In fact, we’re quite famous for our parties, particularly during the summer when everyone seems to end up in the pool,” says the owner. “We also have an amazing cellar, which is warm and dry and over the years has provided a great space for teenagers to hang out in.”

“I will leave Woodfield Cedars with nothing but happy memories,” says the owner. “I’ll miss the warm and welcoming feel of the house, the beautiful garden, the swimming pool and my fabulous neighbours. It really has been the most wonderful family home.”*
