Due to the COVID-19 pan- demic, precautions have been put in place for public health concerns and safety. Indy Parks will use information provided by local and state health authorities and Center for Disease Control (CDC) for guid- ance. • Campers and counselors are required to wear face coverings. • Camps will have reduced camp maximums. • Indy Parks reserves the right to modify or cancel an activity if it cannot be done in a safe manner. • Regular sanitization of supplies and the space. • If appropriate, activities will take place outside. • Campers and counselors will practice social distancing and good hygiene ac- cording to CDC guidelines. • If a counselor reports a child having symptoms, they will notify the lead coun- selor immediately who will then evaluate the camper and send the camper home if they begin to show any signs/symptoms of COVID-19 (or any other communicable disease). • The lead counselor will isolate the camper from everyone until the parent ar- rives. The lead counselor will sanitize everything the ill camper touched imme- diately. • Parents/Guardians will have 45 minutes to come pick up their camper. • The ill camper will not be able to return to camp until at least 72 hours of being symptom free occurs. If the camper has been diagnosed as having COVID-19 (or any other communicable disease) they will need to follow the CDC recom- mendations and quarantined for 14 days. • Parents must communicate a communicable disease with the park staff imme- diately. • Indy Parks’ staff will communicate any changes or updates regarding the COVID -19 guidelines. • In the event that a counselor or camper has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (or any other communicable disease) after camp has started, all parents will be notified that someone at the camp is potentially infectious and camp may be shut down for a minimum of 2 weeks for thorough cleaning and quarantine. The Camp Director will keep track of all cases reported and notify the Indiana State Department of Health for further instructions. This program provides a healthy, well balanced lunch to all children in attendance each day. Menu items change each week and include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, milk and a sandwich, wrap or cold cut sub. All meals are free of charge and there is no additional registration needed to participate. For more infor- mation or to see a sample menu, please contact your family center. General Information The 2021 Indy Parks and Recreation summer day camp program offers a wide variety of opportunities including swimming, arts, nature, science, and sports and recreation. All FREDERICK DOUGLASS PARK camps follow a set of high program standards and are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Limited scholarships are offered based on financial need. Failure to meet the Wednesday payment deadline will result in 7/19-7/23 7:30am-6:00pm M-F $65/wk your child’s name being removed from the registration list. *Some specialty camps 7/26-7/30 7:30am-6:00pm M-F $65/wk require payment in full at registration. Day Camp Refund Policy Indy Parks will issue a full refund if the camp is cancelled. If a camper is withdrawn from a camp at Garfield Arts Camp, Southeastway, Eagle Creek, or Holliday notice must be received two weeks prior to the first day of camp. A refund will be given minus $15. The $15 fee is not refundable or transferable. If the camper is withdrawn less than two weeks prior to first day of camp the refund will be 50%. If a camper is withdrawn from a traditional camp or GATHER a refund will be given minus $15. The $15 fee is not transferable or refundable. If a medical emergency occurs after the two-week deadline. A refund minus the $15 fee will be issued. A written note is required from a physician for medical emergen- cies. All refunds could take up to six weeks. Counselors All Indy Parks Day Camp Counselors have received more than 30 hours of camp programming training prior to camp, and are over the age of 16. All counselors are certified in CPR and First Aid, and have been screened through a complete background and criminal history check. All staff have been selected for their experience, special talents, sensitivity, and creativity.
