  • Head Coach Mike Davis Sixth Season at UAB | 12Th Season As Head Coach | 22Nd Season Overall
UAB BASKETBALL Head Coach Mike Davis Sixth Season At UAB | 12th Season As Head Coach | 22nd Season Overall ike Davis enters his sixth season at the helm Mof the UAB men’s basketball program. Davis, who was hired as the program’s fourth head coach on April 7, 2006, replaced former head coach Mike Anderson, who left UAB to become the head coach at the University of Missouri. Through five seasons with the Blazers, Davis owns an impressive record of 107-57 (.652) overall and 53-27 (.663) in Conference USA play during his five years in Birmingham. He is now 222-136 (.620) in his 11years as a head coach. Davis is coming off possibly his most success- ful season at UAB, as he guided the Blazers to the program’s first-ever Conference USA regular season title. In doing so, he was named the 2011 Conference USA Coach of the Year, while also earning NABC All-District Coach of the Year accolades. This past season, Davis guided the Blazers to an NCAA Tournament at-large berth with a record of 22-9 and a 12-4 mark in league play. UAB has now earned at least 20 vic- tories in the regular season in four-straight years, marking the first time that feat has been in achieved in program history. The Blazers have also won at least 11 conference games in each of the past four years. Davis also led his team to success off the court and in the classroom, as the Blazers achieved a team GPA of 3.0 during the 2010 fall semester.

Facilitator – February/March 2014 : Sharpen Your Tools http://onlinedigitalpublishing.com/display_article.php?id=1627975&id_i... Change Language: Sharpen Your Tools Walter Bond Accountability Drives Results How owning your actions improves performance The lack of accountability within the business community is at an all-time high and has even started degrading revenues. Only 44 percent of employees feel that people in their organizations take full responsibility for their actions, according to Modern Survey. Is the restaurant facilities industry ahead or behind every other industry in accountability? When something goes wrong at one of your restaurants, what is your instinctive reply? Do you own up and take responsibility, or do you point the finger and blame someone else? The majority of professionals in America are not accountable for their job-related performance. Please repeat after me, “You cannot have performance improvement without accountability.” Mistakes, when they are owned, are the key to performance improvement. The Road to Accountability If your company is looking to go to the proverbial next level, one simple yet powerful way to improve your company’s bottom line is to build accountability into your culture. When you add new facilities without adding new staff, there is no excuse for poor performance. Before becoming one of the top speakers in the United States, I was an NBA athlete, living the dream of millions of little boys. I was very fortunate to enjoy an eight-year professional basketball career, including stops with the Dallas Mavericks, Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons. I rounded out a decade in professional sports by broadcasting two seasons for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

  • The Most Successful NBA Player You Never Heard of Debuts New Book
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Tina Koenig Phone: (954) 989-3338 Tina (AT) tina koenig dot com The Most Successful NBA Player You Never Heard of Debuts New Book Now a Global Business Coach, Walter Bond, Introduces ‘Shark Mindset’ for Next Level Success in SWIM! BOCA RATON, Fla. – November 15, 2019 -- What can a shark, a suckerfish and a parasite teach you about business? Quite a bit according to Walter Bond. Walter is a global business coach, and one of the most successful NBA players you’ve probably never heard of. And he’s good with that. Walter’s time in the NBA taught him the fundamentals needed to be a peak performer, and he now shares this knowledge in his new book, Swim! How a Shark, a Suckerfish, and a Parasite Teach You Leadership, Mentoring, and Next Level Success (Wiley, ISBN: 978-1-119-57356-2; $23.00; Hardcover). “Adopting the ‘Shark Mindset’ can help anyone, at any level of their career, become a superstar in business and in life,” says Walter. “I never achieved household name fame like some NBA players. But I know what it takes to play with the best in the world.” In the book, the rousing speaker and go-getter business coach tells a transformative parable that shows what it really takes to become a “big fish” — a shark! Scotty finds it odd when an old High School buddy he hasn’t kept in touch with suddenly invites him on a fishing trip. Over the course of the day, Scotty shares with Paul life lessons he’s learned, including what sharks have taught him about business and life.
