Biffy Clyro überzeugen auch auf ihren Zusatzkonzerten zur viel umjubelten „Ellipsis“-Tour. Mit am Start: Aviv Geffen feat. Blackfield. Es ist kurz vor 20 Uhr, als Aviv Geffen mit seiner Band die Bühne im sehr gut gefüllten Bochumer RuhrCongress betritt. Der israelische Superstar tritt einen Tag vor Veröffentlichung des fünften Blackfield Albums ohne Prog-Großmeister Steven Wilson auf. Die Vorstellung, dass Steven Wilson selbst als Support aufträte, mutet dabei eh ein bisschen komisch an. So richtet es Aviv Geffen mit seiner Band halt alleine. Und er setzt Akzente. Logisch, Blackfields Musik ist um Einiges melancholischer und leiser als der Stadionrock der Headliner, wegen denen die Fans gen Bochum gepilgert sind. Gleichwohl gelingt es der Truppe, dass man ihr aufmerksam zuhört. Und alsAviv Geffen als dritten Song ‚Oxygen‘ ankündigt und dabei beschreibt, wie ihm Donald Trump in seiner Rolle als Präsident der USA die Luft zum Atmen nimmt, erntet er starken Applaus. Den gibt es auch am Ende des Sets, das die Band mit ‚It’s Cloudy Now‘ bärenstark beschließt. Ja, Aviv Geffen hat einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen und vermutlich ein paar Fans gewonnen. Wie von Sinnen rocken die Schotten über die Bühne und legen eine Show hin, die ihren Ruf als hervorragenden Liveband aufs Neue untermauert. Wieder sind neun Songs der aktuellen Platte „Ellipsis“ vertreten, die Band hat lediglich ‚Flammable‘, das wenige Wochen zuvor als offizielle Single ausgekoppelt wurde, statt ‚People‘ integriert. Darüber hinaus bleiben moderne Hymnen wie ‚Bubbles‘, ‚Many Of Horror‘, ‚Mountains‘, ‚The Captain‘ und ‚That Golden Rule‘ natürlich obligatorisch. Die Stimmung ist einmal mehr hervorragend. Es ist schlicht und einfach beeindruckend, wenn mehrere tausend Menschen die Arme heben und eine Band frenetisch abfeiern, die auf der Bühne alles gibt und dazu noch von einer bombastischen Lichtshow unterstützt wird. Wenig später kommt Sänger und Gitarrist Simon Neil allein mit einer Akustikgitarre zurück und performt ‚Folding Stars‘, einen Song zum Gedenken an seine verstorbene Mutter. Für zwei weitere Songs kehren auch die Zwillinge James und Ben Johnston zurück, nach ‚Stingin‘ Belle‘ ist aber Schluss mit lustig.     2009-11-10 15:00 CET Biffy Clyro's "Only Revolutions" släpps imorgon! Skotsk rock har aldrig varit bättre, nu är äntligen Biffy Clyro tillbaka med efterlängtade femte albumet "Only Revolutions". I hemlandet går det som på räls för bandet, deras tre första singlar från albumet har alla gått in top 10 på singellistan. De har även prytt omslagen till alla de musikmagasin värda namnet, till exempel NME och Kerrang. "Only Revolutions" är producerat av Garth "GGGarth" Richardson ochJosh Hommefrån Queens of The Stoneage spelar gitarr på några av låtarna. 2007 släppte vi "Puzzle" som var en enorm succé för bandet och sålde i en kvart miljon ex. De turnerár flitigt och jobbar hårt, de har varit i Sverige senast som förband till "Queens of the Stoneage" och sedan på Hultsfredsfestivalen 08. Biffy Clyro bildades 1999 i den lilla byn Ayrshire nära Glasgow. Bröderna Ben (trummor) och James Johnston (bas), och låtskrivaren/hjärnan/ögongodiset Simon Neil (sång, gitarr). De träffades såklart i skolan och startade bandet där. Deras första release heter "Blackened Sky" och kom ut 2002. De har skapat sig en stadig, växande fanbase som kallar sig för "Team Biffy". Förra året släppte vi singlen "Mountains" som en stand-alone singel och den gick in top 5 på singellistan och sålde över 100.000 ex i hemlandet. "Only Revolutions" har under releaseveckan redan sålt guld. Pressen har kastat sig över nya albumet och en rad fina recensioner har gått i tryck.
