Linux System Administrator — Senior Manager/Manager

PSX is looking for a technically sound and qualified individual for the role of System Administrator in the IT Department which shall be based in Head Office, Karachi. Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively manage and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments • Root cause failure analysis, and logging information for reporting of performance exceptions and incidents • Development of preventive maintenance plans, SOPs, Work instructions, knowledge articles, check lists etc. • Proactively monitoring system performance, alerts/events, and capacity planning • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hotfixes on servers, workstations, etc. • Administration of active directory and email solution. Creation of scripts to perform routine tasks. • Provide input on budgeting, ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes • Perform daily system monitoring verifying the integrity and availability of all relevant components and services • Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required files and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary • Managing and monitoring data center facility as per TIA-942 standard and best practices • Monitor all datacenter assets for tracking information and documenting all power, cooling and space schematics • Supervise all safety equipment such as alarm system, HSSD devices, humidity, temp and fire suppression system • Preparation of annual business plans, objectives, budget and assist in the preparation of procurement cases. • Maintain standards of service levels at all times, ensure response with timeframe and manage all DC services • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required by the management

Required Skills/Experience/Education:

• Minimum experience of 4 years as a system administrator • Hands on experience of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, etc. and knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB etc. • Experience in virtualization technology, open-source hypervisors, Linux containers, Dockers, VMWARE, Xen etc. • Knowledge of web servers like Apache, NGINX, and application platform JBOSS • Experience in managing different types of storage, SAN, NAS, VSAN, and backup repositories/appliances, etc. • Strong grip on configuration management tools, such as Puppet and Chef • Experience of Linux scripting languages, load balancing, firewalls, proxy servers, etc. • Proficient with network tools such as ip-tables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, Solar winds, etc. • Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP • Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM framework, TIA-942 standard, ISO ISMS 27001, other IT relevant standards/certifications • Able to support and train other server administrators and experience in writing technical reports and other docs. • Strong problem solving and communication skills • Able to work in a fast-paced changing environment • At least 4 years' degree in Computer Science or Engineering • Relevant trainings and certifications will be considered an advantage
