Richard was a freelance 10/2/2015 - post-16 education adviser and consultant after working at senior 09/2/2019 executive level within the Learning & Skills Council for five years. With 05/2/2019 - over 40 years’ experience in the Learning and Skills sector, working in 04/2/2023 senior management roles in colleges, for the Further 2nd term Education Funding Council and The Learning and Skills Council.

3. Jane Nicklen Jane joined the Board in May 2014. Jane is experienced in Community 27 March 2018 to Planning and Development, Now recently retired, Jane worked for 26 March 2022 Weymouth and Portland District Council and the new Council. 2nd term Jane has a BA degree in Law.

4. Jack Dickson New Member from 11 February 2020 11/02/2020 to Jack is an Art and Design Teacher and resident Housemaster at 10/02/2024 (a co-educational private school in Blandford), primarily a pastoral role with responsibility for the welfare of the resident students. Jack has been working in the private sector for nine years and is keen to reengage with state education in some way. Before moving to Dorset Jack was working in community outreach work as part of a specialist Art, Design and Science School.

5. Lyn Bourne Lyn joined the Board in 2017. She works as a consultant across further 7/11/17 – education, adult and community learning, apprenticeships and high needs 6/11/2021 provision. Lyn is a well-qualified, experienced teacher and was a senior manager in a large college. Lyn has expertise in curriculum quality and design, and staff development. She also brings to the Board, her experiences of inspection.

6. Steve Webb Steve Webb is the General Manager of GSI Ltd., a UK based 11/07/2017 – manufacturing business with a subsidiary in China. Steve had a degree 10/07/2021 in Applied Science and a Diploma in Management. He joined the Board 2nd Term in 2012 and has recently given support to Outreach International, a business placing gap/career break individuals throughout the world. Steve’s hobbies include Music, Theatre, Rugby and Walking as well as renovating old properties.

7. Rod Davis Joining the Board in 2017, Rod brings experience in Apprenticeships and 7/11/2017 to he is Chair of the local Training Providers’ Network 6/11/2021

8. Andy Matthews Andy was appointed in November 2015. Andy is Chair of the Portland 1/11/15-31/10/19 Partnership, having worked at one time for the College in a financial 01/11/2019 – capacity; Andy brings much local knowledge and financial expertise to the 31/10/2023 Board. 2nd term

9. Chris Brooke New Member from 11 February 2020 11/02/2020 to Chris is Head of Submarines Division of Atlas Elektronics UK (AEUK), 10/02/2024 one of the largest science, technical and production employers in the area (now with over 500 employees including graduate and apprentice entries), As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Chris is responsible for controlling and managing his business area in particular growth in sales and getting good people into the business. Chris has over 20 years’ experience in international sales, he has travelled the world (Korea, Germany, India and the Middle East) working securing large naval equipment sales.

10. Louise Matthews Louise brings Skills in Marketing and considerable local business 9/10/2018 to experience. 8/10/2022 After a short break in service, Louise returned to full membership in February 2020

11. Jacqui Gerrard Jacqui joined the Board in 2018 as an Associate Member after moving to 9/10/2018 – live in Weymouth, and took up full membership in March 2019. Jacqui has 08/10/2022 extensive organisational development and strategic HR experience Full member from working in executive director and consultancy roles in commercial 26/3/2019 technology and telecommunications companies and in central government organisations and NHS Trusts. She has previously been a Governor and Chair of a Sixth Form College in Surrey. During her time as Chair, the college merged with an FE college to increase the range of study pathways available to local students.

12. Ian Bates New Member in February 2020. Ian is a chartered Accountant and has 11/02/2020 to joined the Audit Finance Committee 10/02/2024 Ian is a retired chartered accountant with substantial experience in audit, internal control and risk management, corporate governance and the regulated environment. He has been a governor of a large 6th Form College and through supporting his wife (a teacher and SENCo) in her recent studies for a doctorate in educational psychology he has a keen interest in education. 13. Nigel Evans Chief Executive. Nigel has nearly 40 years’ experience in Further From 2014 Chief Executive Education, with over 25 of those years as a committed A-level Biology teacher. As his career progressed he adopted a variety of curriculum management roles and worked for Ofsted as an inspector of Science and Maths. In 2008, Nigel joined FE Associates and worked in a number of FE Colleges, in a variety of senior curriculum and quality roles. After serving 3 years as Vice Principal, Nigel was appointed as Acting Principal in 2014, and Principal in 2016. Nigel is deeply committed to leading the College to becoming an ‘Outstanding’ institution. He is a firm believer in that the most valuable asset to a College is its staff. Throughout his career Nigel has remained committed to providing the best possible experience for students and equipping them with the right skills and experience to improve their life chances. 14. Peter Vowles Peter has worked in further education for over forty years - in Fiji, 15 May 2018 Staff Member Birmingham and Luton before coming to Weymouth. His roles at to 16 May 2022 Weymouth College, as Schools Officer and Student Liaison Officer, bring him into contact with staff and students across the college and with local schools and organisations. He organises Primary College and Careers College for over 3,000 children each year.

15. Megan Barnes Megan was elected as Staff Board Member in 2018. She is a lecturer in 15 May 2018 Staff Member Sport and Public Services, part of the Quality Team and Deputy Head of to 16 May 2022 Academic and Professional Studies, working at the College for over 9 years.

Jenny Stiling Jenny has been associated with Weymouth College for nearly twenty July 2019 Associate/Co-opted years; her area of expertise is in project funding and development. She (annual review) has been a member of the College Board for a number of years, moving Member to an Associate role two years ago. She has been involved in many local community organisations including Healthy Living Wessex, the Weymouth and Portland Health Network and the Health Theme Group of the Weymouth and Portland Partnership. Jenny has also completed a Foundation Diploma in Art at Weymouth College; when not studying or chairing committees Jenny’s passion is her garden.

Sue Ratcliffe Sue was born and educated in Poole and has worked in education in From 2012 Clerk to the Corporation Dorset ever since. Working in various roles for Dorset Youth Service and then Bournemouth Borough Council before joining Bournemouth and Poole College as Director of College and Customer Services and Clerk to the Corporation. Sue has an HNC in Public Admin, a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a national accreditation in governance and clerking. Now focusing on Governance, Sue was an LSIS Associate until its closure in 2013; she has experience as advisor for two Academy Schools and a trainer/mentor for new clerks. Sue joined Weymouth College as Clerk to the Corporation in 2012 and she is a governor of a local Middle School in Poole.
