MINUTES OF THE GENERAL MEETING OF BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB HELD ON WEDNESDAY 27 AUGUST, 2014, COMMENCING AT 7.40 PM

QUARRY REPORT David Catt reported on previous Khanacross – well attended event with 30 plus entries and a very successful day. David advised anyone looking to compete in events to make sure they have checked their cars prior to scrutineering. Advised that scrutineering will now be recorded. David thanked all officials for organising and running such a good event.

John Windsor advised that the track is in very good condition for next event which is a Khanacross on 14 September. John thanked David Catt for supplying a 4WD vehicle for use at the Quarry.

GENERAL BUSINESS Mountain Straight Hillclimb Scott Sims advised that the Mountain Straight Hillclimb is organised but is running with minimal officials. There will be a working bee on Saturday at 1.30pm to install parrawebbing etc. for the event. Rob Wells advised that the Council is currently working on the road surface but has been advised that the track will be ready for Hillclimb. Rally Officials Scott advised that officials were still needed for September’s Rally. He asked that anyone interested in officialing contact Gwyn or Helen Mulholland as soon as possible. Request for Officials to assist at Alpine Rally Scott advised that an email had been received from organisers of the Alpine Rally requesting help with supplying officials for this event. Scott read out contact details and advised that any volunteers would be most welcome.

DOUG OUTRIGHT CLASSES TO BARRIE AND GREG

Doug Barry (Lola) has closed in on Brett Hayward after Doug took outright fastest time at hound 8 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship at Huntley.

The fastest time was set on Doug’s final run when he recorded a time of 19.93 seconds to close out Tim Edmondson and Malcolm Oastler.

Barry Coady (Toyota MR2) won Production Sports with a best time of 34.34 seconds.

In Sports Sedans Over 3000 Greg Frame (Torana) won his class with a best time of 26.79 seconds.

MUNDAY AMD WINDSOR AT MASTERS

Bob Munday (Ford Mustang) and Matthew Windsor (Commodore) contested the 2014 Muscle Car Masters at Motorsport Park coming away with strong results.

Bob competed in Group Na/Nb qualifying with a time of 2.37.64 good enough for 21 st grid position. Over the weekend he contested three races resulting in a 6 th , 11 th and a 13 th with a best time of 2.23.79.

Matthew qualified with at time of 2.34.28 also starting in 21 st place. Over the weekend Matthew finished with a 6 th 12 th and a 17 th and a quickest time of 2.02.71.

CLASS WIN TO KING

Tony King (Mazda MX5) recorded a class win at Wakefield Park Raceway while contesting the 2014 CAMS State Supersprint Championship.

Tony’s time of 1.10.60 was good enough for the class win and 46 th outright in a field of eighty six drivers.

MOORE AND MOORE AT COFFS

A last minute sponsorship deal from Autopro and an entry on the last day paid off for Ron and Jo Moore in the Rally .

The BLCC crew went for the fun & to finish, they had a great experience again, after last year, in a Commodore.

They finished12 th last year in ARC 2wd but 5th this year in 4wd National Series very pleasing as Jo has never used pace notes before, this was a big challenge and a big effort.

Twenty soul’s did not lose their way in the area between Bathurst, Orange and Blayney all arriving back to enjoy pizza and tell tales of the road’s they had encountered.

The night run was about 120kls and for the first time all finished on maximum points but three crews received an extra point for using the stick map.

Don’t forget the one day trial next month.

SPORTSCLASSIC SPRING RALLY

With a steady flow of entries coming in we have several local crews intending to compete with some already entered. These include Nik Hough in his Commodore Ute, Ron & Jo Moore in the Evo Lancer fresh from a good result in the ARC round at Coffs Harbour, Leigh and Gerard Gotch in a pair of. There is also a possibility of a couple of others.

The leading contenders in the race to win the DRS Series crown have already entered these are Brett Bower/Katie Fletcher in a 1978 Toyota Celica and Craig Kenchington/Scott Fletcher in an extremely quick 1971 Datsun 1600.

A major feature of the event will be the appearance of the two Australian Plastic Profiles Mk11 RS1800 Escorts driven by John and David Hills. John is being navigated by Mick Tuckey the BLCC Competition Secretary. To see these vehicles is one thing but to hear them in the forests brings back memories of yesteryear when Escorts ruled.

There are three classifications for eligibility in the DRS Series these are two wheel drive rear wheel drive, two wheel drive front wheel drive and four wheel drive non turbo. The Excel’s running are in a class of their own but most are also registered for the front wheel drive class.

The quicker All wheel drive turbo cars are entered in the Multiclub component of the Rally along with any entries not registered for the DRS series.

2015 CAMS General Assembly

CAMS is once again staging its General Assembly for club presidents and office bearers to be held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth on Saturday 21 February 2015.

CAMS is bringing together clubs from across Australia to discuss a range of topics relevant to clubs, including the benefits of affiliation, membership engagement, track and driver development, CAMSEventEntry and Officials training and development.

This will be a great opportunity to catch up with fellow club officials, share ideas and keep abreast of the latest developments in Australian motor sport.

Anyone who attends the CAMS 2015 General Assembly can purchase tickets to the CAMS Motor Sport Awards for the discounted price of $150 each (normally $180).
