In some cases, national instruments remain in wide use within the nation but in others, their importance is rather symbolic. This dictionary compiles instruments that have been alleged to be a national instrument by any of a variety of sources, and an instrument's presence on the list does not indicate that its status as a national instrument is indisputable, only that its status has been credibly argued. This document is a short dictionary of words which may help you learn about music. It was originally intended for non-musicians, but it is useful for anyone who wants a develop a larger verbal arsenal for talking about music. The folk music of Turkey Turkish folk music (Türk Halk Müziği)1 combines the distinct cultural values of all civilisations that have lived in Anatolia and the past territories in Europe and Asia.
