CURTAIN CALL 3 4 CURTAIN CALL WELCOME FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

A WILD AND CRAZY GUY

Nearly 50 years ago, picked up the nickname—a wild and crazy guy—that has stuck with him all these years, due to a sketch he was part of on in 1977. Since that time, Martin has continued to create wonderfully comic characters for himself as an actor, and for others, as an author. is just one of Martin’s many writing projects which include creating the story for “Magic Camp” which will soon be released on Disney’s new streaming service.

I’m thrilled that this is the first of Martin’s many works to be presented here at Curtain Call. It is very funny, as you might expect from a guy who has made us laugh since the 1960s. At a time when people are caught up in defending themselves for their particular political associations, it’s great to step away from the “real world” once in a while, and just laugh. That’s what we hope you’ll do today. Laughter has long been said to be the best medicine in the world, so that’s why our 29th season includes so many opportunities to laugh.

One of the things I love the most about my job, is how much I get to laugh. Seriously. Even with the darkest of dramas, at some point in the rehearsal process, a fit of laughter is sure to appear. We all need laughs. It’s probably why (and musical comedies) are the most popular of events we produce.

As I look ahead to the remainder of this new season, we have Cactus Flower, Something Rotten, Beyond Therapy, Nunsense, Crossing Delancey and Kinky Boots, as well as murder mysteries, concerts, nights and more. All of that to say, I hope you’ll consider becoming a Flex Pass subscriber (if you’re not already) and enjoy savings of 25% and more. You’ll also be entitled to 10% off at our restaurant partners, exchange privileges and more. Check with the Box Office on how to apply the cost of today’s tickets to on of our Flex pass options.

For now, sit back and enjoy the show, and THANK YOU for joining us!
