DANIEL DROMM NYC Council Member – District 25 Daniel Dromm is an educator, community organizer, union leader, and political activist. In 2002 he was elected Democratic District Leader in the 39th Assembly District and was re-elected in 2004, 2006, and 2008. 1n 2009, he was elected to the City Council, representing District 25 in Queens. He serves as chairman of the Immigration Committee. He is also an award-winning New York City public school teacher. Since 1984, Daniel has instructed and inspired thousands of students at PS 199Q in Queens. In 2006, he was chosen as “Outstanding Teacher of the Year" by his school's principal, and in 2009, named "Educator of the Year" by the Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside. He is proud to be entrusted with the education of children from the same community where his Irish immigrant ancestors landed years ago. In 1992, Daniel courageously came out as an openly gay teacher, making front-page news in newspapers throughout the city. The ensuing battle tested Daniel's resolve as a fighter who is unafraid to take on the powers that be. He has also dedicated himself tirelessly to the United Federation of Teachers. Daniel received his under graduate degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, and his master's degree from City College. He is deeply committed to civil rights and social justice and has established himself as a fighter against prejudice, discrimination, and violence. He has founded and organized multiple organizations, events, and programs in support of the LGBT community, is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Jackson Heights and a board member of the Corona- based Community Conciliation Network, and is an active member of the 115th Precinct Community Council.

RICHARD T. FITZSIMMONS Business Manager and Secretary/Treasurer Local Union #147 L.I.U.N.A. Richard T. Fitzsimmons was born in the Bronx and is the grandson of Irish immigrants from County Cavan. He attended Dobbs Ferry High School graduating in 1978. After graduation he entered a four year apprentice program with Local Union #3 (Electricians) attending Empire State College receiving an associates degree in science. He also started working with Local Union # 147 Tunnel Workers (Sandhogs) in 1978. In 1981 he was accepted into Local Union #3 where he worked for the next ten years. Throughout his apprenticeship with Local # 3 he continued to work part time as a tunnel worker as they worked around the clock. In 1991 he was laid off from Local Union # 3 and at this time he went to work as a full time tunnel worker with Local Union #147 L.I.U.N.A. In 1992, he was elected President of Local 147 and in 1995 he was elected Business Manager. He has held the position of Business Manager and Secretary/Treasurer since that time without opposition. In his capacity as Business Manager he has successfully negotiated labor contracts for his union members making them the highest paid workers of this kind in the world. Richard is married to his high school sweetheart the former Cindy Bucci and they have three sons – Richard Jr., Joseph and Ryan. Richard has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for fourteen years. He is a credit to his family, his friends, Local 147 membership and to the Irish American community.

JOHN LYONS Co-Owner, McKeon’s Bar & Restaurant John Lyons is a native of Portrun, , Co. . He is one of five children born to the late Patrick and Annie. He received his primary education at Knockcroghery National School and his secondary education at Roscommon Vocational School. After graduation in 1977 when opportunities were limited in Ireland, John like many of his contemporaries set out on the well trodden emigrant path to New York. Shortly thereafter he started his career in the bar and restaurant business working for Pat and Margo Corr in the Old Stand Bar & Restaurant in New York City. John spent twenty one years at the Old Stand. In 2001 became co-owner with Billy Madden of Maddens Bar & Restaurant in Pearl River, New York, where he remained until 2007. John currently co-owns McKeon’s Bar & Restaurant with Brendan and Pauline Maher on McLean Avenue in Yonkers. John has been actively involved in the Irish American community since his arrival. In 1985, John played a leading role in the rebirth of the Roscommon Football Club of New York, where he has held numerous positions: dance chairman, journal chairman and, currently serves as president. He has also been involved in numerous charities in the Tri-State area over the years and is currently an active member of the Roscommon Society of New York, Inishfail Golf Club, and the AOH Division 3 Pearl River. He resides in Goshen, New York with his wife the former Breda O’Brien from Moydrum, , Co. Wesmeath. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Siobhan and Deirdre.
