For those not familiar with the entire Elvis music catalog the Always Elvis Digital Songbook will focus on the lesser-known tracks from his studio releases. The tracks in the songbook will match those recordings available in our Studio E section of the website and will include the lyrics to those songs. This will be an opportunity to learn about the tracks, the lyrics and other information about the songs if you are not already familiar with them. Pure Gold members will also get access to additional Always Elvis bonus content and archive material.

It was later included on the Elvis’ seventh RCA studio album, For LP Fans Only in February 1959. This album contain songs that had been issued on single records and utilized four of the tracks issued on with limited release and difficult to come by outside the south.

I Need You So (H2BW 0418-04) was recorded on February 23, 1957 in Radio Recorders Studio 1 in Hollywood, . It included Scotty Moore, Bill Black along with D.J Fontana on drums, on and backup vocals by .

It was released on the soundtrack album ‘Loving You’ which includes the seven tracks from the movie along with five additional tracks that were recorded during the 1957 January and February recording sessions. The album B-side included the non-soundtrack tracks including Blueberry Hill, True Love, Don’t Leave Me Know, Have I Told You Lately That I Love You and I Need You So. Mine (UPA4 2767) was recorded September 11, 1967 at RCA Studios B in Nashville and produced by and included in on the Speedway soundtrack. Scotty Moore and D.J Fontana were on the session with an expanded group of musicians including on bass, on piano, on saxophone and Millie Kirkham joining the Jordanaires on background vocals.

Although Take 21 was utilized as the master, Elvis vocals were removed leaving only the track and Elvis completed a vocal overdub.

Almost (XPA1 3978-31) was recorded in Hollywood, California at United Recorders for the movie ‘The Trouble With Girls’. Take 31 was used as the master with strings and horn overdubs recorded in May 1969 for use in the album ‘Let’s Be Friends’. The undubbed master was used for the movie version with the piano intro cut in the movie.

So open up your heart and let This fool rush in Fools Rush In (APA4 1276) was recorded on May 18, 1971 at RCA Studio B in Nashville, TN. It was included in the album Elvis Now, which included songs, recorded over a three year period. The song was recorded during the marathon recording session in which Elvis recorded music for his upcoming Christmas album ‘The Wonderful World of Christmas’ as well as material for Elvis Now and the “Fool” album.

After Loving You (XPA5 1269) was recorded on February 18, 1969 at in Memphis TN and can be heard on the album release ‘From Elvis In Memphis’. Although Take 4 was utilized for the master recording during take 1 and 2 Elvis decided to play piano on the initial tracks.

The album received rave reviews and Elvis’ creativity in the studio with producer was an enlightening change from the decade of movie soundtracks.
