Learners should fill in their logbooks as soon after a trip as possible to avoid forgetting vital information.
Write in the tables when a training course or assessment course was attended. Simply write across the columns in red ink stating “Training Course” or “Assessment Course”. This will indicate to a reader what trips were done before and after training/assessment. The actual course details will be listed in the separate section for “Courses”.
Consolidation Periods
During the consolidation period between training and assessment, the Learner is expected to gain extensive experience in the activity. This must include practice in leading parties working under the guidance of a suitably experienced leader.
Before attending an assessment course, the Learner must have completed the Pre Assessment Minimum Experience Requirements as indicated in the official AQN Prospectus.
The AQN recommends that all but the most experienced Learner allow a minimum of twelve months active further experience between training and assessment courses for advanced levels and six months for lower levels.
