You Are Beautiful and Wonderfully Made! Every two and a half years we offer a sex education program to our teenagers in EYC. Our goal with that time frame is to have youth in the program as a Junior High EYCer and a Senior High EYCer. The discussions change with age groups, and become even more relevant as the youth get older. We spend time talking about everything and anything, in a place where we hope the youth feel comfortable enough to ask the tough questions. Here is a brief overview of each week of the program:

Week 1- Anatomy, Physiology, How the Parts Work, and Values Voting Week 2- Sexually Transmitted Infections and Contraception Week 3- The Internet and Social Media Week 4- Media and How It Affects Our Views of Men and Women Week 5- Relationships, Decision Making, Goal Setting, Theology (This session has been postponed to March 16th due to the wintery weather and icy roads on March 2nd.)

One of the most interesting parts this year was having two Secret Service agents come in and talk to the youth about the internet, sexting and social media. The youth were reminded that everything that goes on the internet is there forever, and to make wise decisions. The teachers this year have been there every week, and are phenomenal! Huge thanks to Frances Callan, Felicia Goodman, Lance Grigsby, Melissa Johnson, Ashley Kegerreis, Joe LaBorde, Wes Lloyd, Chris Treadwell and Tim Weist! This program would never happen without their wonderful leadership! Also, thanks to Fr. Chuck Treadwell and Katie Wolfe. They led the first session for the parents, a discussion about how to talk to their youth about sex. Thank you all for supporting this program. I believe the youth have all learned something from this program, as well as their parents. I look forward to offering this program again in the fall of 2016!
