At the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of August, 1939. Present: HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL. PURSUANT to the Fisheries Act, 1908, His Excellencv the Governor General, acting by and with the advice and consent ~f the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations. REGULATIONS. 1. These regulations may be cited as the Fresh-water Fisheries (Southland) Regulations 1937, Amendment No. 2. 2. These regulations shall be read together with and form part of the Fresh-water Fisheries (Southland) Regulations 1937* (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations) and the amendment thereof. 3. These regulations shall come into force 011 the 1st day of October, 1939. 4. Regulation 6 of the principal regulations is revoked, and the following regulation substituted :- " (6) No person shall in fishing for any acclimatized fish in the district use worm as a bait or lure except in the following waters :- " (a) The Aparima River: "(b) The Oreti River below the railway-bridge crossing the said Oreti River near Lumsden : "(c) The :vIakarewa River below its junction with the Hedgehope River: " (d) The Mataura River: "(e) The Waiau River below its junction with the Mararoa River." 5. Regulation 9 of the principal regulations is revoked, and the following regulation substituted :- "9. No person shall on anyone day take or kill within the district more than fifteen trout, and no person shall continue to fish for trout on any day on which he has already taken or killed fifteen trout: • Statutory Regulations 1936-7, Serial number 1937/230, page 835. "Provided, firstly, that the quantities hereby specified shall he exclusive of any fish taken and dealt with pursuant to Regulations 49 and 50 of the Fresh-water Fisheries Regulations 1936 ; "Provided, secondly, that this regulation shall not apply to the fishing for, taking, or killing of trout in the course of an angling competition duly authorized by an acclimatization society." 6. Regulation 4 of the Fresh-water Fisheries (Southland) Regula tions 1937, Amendment No. 1, is revoked, and the following regulations substituted ;- "15. During the period from the 1st day of October, 1939, until the 30th day of September, 1940, both days inclusive, no person shall fish for, take, or kill any acclimatized fish by any method wha,tsoever in the following waters, namely;- " (a) Upukuroro River: "(b) That portion of Lake Te Anau lying east of a straight line drawn from Blue Gum Point to the mouth of the first creek above Lookout Hill. "15A. No person shall during the month of October in any year fish for, take, or kill any acclimatized fish in "(a) Lake Te Anau; " (b) Lake Manapouri; or "(c) That portion of the Waiau River between Lake Te Anau and Lake Manapouri." 7. No person shall use a boat for the purpose of taking acclimatized fish in- (a) Lake Fergus ; (b) Lake Gunn; (c) That portion of the Waiau River from a point commencing in the said river 100 yards from the outlet of Lake Te Anau down to Lake Manapouri. 8. No person shall fish for or attempt to take fish of any description by any method whatsoever in that portion of the spring-fed lagoon enclosed by a wire-netting fence and situated within the Tuatapere Domain. 9. No person shall in fishing for acclimatized fish in the district use creeper bait in the following waters, namely ;- (a) In those waters in which fishing with worm as a bait is prohibited by Regulation 4 hereof; (b) In the Oreti River from its source down to where the railway bridge crosses the Oreti River near Lumsden ; (c) In the tributaries of the Oreti River from the source of each down to the said railway-bridge near Lumsden ; (d) In the Mararoa River; (e) In the tributaries of the Mararoa River.
