MCA Matches

Proposal that each side play 2 double-header T20 matches each day in rounds 8 and 9, instead of standard one-day matches, under the following rules.

18.1 Hours of Play

(a) The hours of play shall be determined by the Executive Committee after fixtures have been completed.

(b) A designated cessation time will apply if more than 60 minutes are lost due to a delayed start, or weather or light after the match has commenced, to be determined by the Executive Committee after fixtures have been completed.

(c) A tea interval of 20 minutes shall be taken after the completion of the first innings.

(d) The match shall end when a first innings has been achieved.

18.3 Result

(a) The winner shall be the side scoring the greatest number of runs in the first innings, irrespective of the number of lost.

(b) Each match shall be played for half the normal match points in Rule 6.

18.4 Overs

(a) The match shall consist of one innings per side with each innings being limited to a maximum of 20 overs.

(b) A maximum of 4 overs per bowler in an innings.

(c) Overs shall be in blocks of 5 overs alternating between ends. Batsmen and umpires shall change ends after each over except after every fifth over. Fieldsmen shall change ends after every fifth over.

22.4 Timed Out

Incoming batsmen have 90 seconds after the fall of a to be at the crease and ready to face the next .

22.6 Wides MCA one-day wides apply (Rule 21.8).

22.7 Free Hit after Foot No Ball

(a) The delivery following a foot No ball (Law 24.5) shall be a free hit for whichever batsman is facing it. If the delivery for the free hit is a No ball or a , then the next delivery will become a free hit for whichever batsman is facing it.

(b) For any free hit, the striker can be only be dismissed , , or , even if the free hit delivery is a Wide.

(c) Field changes will only be permitted for free hit deliveries if a different batsman is on strike for the free hit delivery.

22.8 Restriction

(a) Two 27.5 metre fielding semi-circles shall have their centre as the middle stump at either end of the pitch. These two semi-circles shall be linked by two parallel straight lines. If these fielding restriction circles are not marked then the umpires will judge the distances.

(b) A required number of fieldsmen must be inside the circle before the bowler enters the delivery stride, otherwise either shall call and signal ‘No Ball’.

(i) A maximum 2 fieldsmen are permitted outside the circle in first 6 overs.

(ii) A maximum 5 fieldsmen are permitted outside circle in next 14 overs.

(iii) A maximum 5 fieldsmen are permitted on the leg side. 1
