Turnover & Market Capitalization | HNB was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 2.62Bn or 15.19% of total turnover value. Dipped Products followed suit, accounting for 8.81% of turnover (value of LKR 1.52Bn) while Browns Invstmnts contributed LKR 1.34Bn to account for 7.79% of the week’s turnover. Total turnover value amounted to LKR 17.27Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 11.96Bn), while daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 3.45Bn (15.53%W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 2.99Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, increased by 3.69% W-o-W (or LKR 115.89Bn) to LKR 3,258.60Bn cf. LKR 3,142.71Bn last week. Liquidity (Value & Volume) | The Capital Goods Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 26.20% (or LKR 4.52Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by Hayleys, Royal Ceramic & JKH which accounted for 67.91% of the sector’s total turnover. Banks Industry Group meanwhile accounted for 23.10% of the total turnover value while Materials Group contributed 19.21% to the weekly turnover. The Food, Beverage & Tobacco Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 44.06% (or 248.62Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 2.18Bn. The Materials Industry Group followed suit, adding 15.15% to total volume (85.50Mn shares) while Capital Goods contributed 11.01% (62.11Mn shares) to the weekly share volume. Net Foreign Position | Foreign investors were net sellers this week with total net outflow amounting to LKR 1.50Bn relative to last week’s total net outflow of LKR 1.87Bn (19.9% W-o-W). Total foreign purchases decreased by 92.5% W-o-W to LKR 0.47Bn from last week’s value of LKR 6.34Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 1.97Bn relative to LKR 8.20Bn recorded last week (-76.0% W-o- W).
