  • The Dazzler 175 National Knockout Cheshire Women's League
Ma THE Didsbury’s run in National ends in agonising fashion … Appleton win match in hand to DAZZLER 175 go top of division one … Upton edge Appleton 2s in battle of unbeaten division 3 sides … No stopping Appleton and Trinity at top of T20 divisions … Cheshire gain first win but lose three more, as division two future hangs by a thread NATIONAL KNOCKOUT National Knockout Northern Regional Final – June 17: Sessay 115-6 (20; Sophie Richardson 42, Katie Baines 24*, Hannah Jones 2-12) Didsbury 112 (20; Roshini Prince-Navaratnam 45, Laura Griffiths 31, Amy Burton 3-5, Baines 2-3) • Didsbury came within an ace of reaching the national Finals Day, but instead their run in this competition ended in the northern regional final, effectively the last eight of the competition nationally. Yorkshire club Sessay were reduced to 8-3 and 29-4 before recovering to post a good total, but Didsbury looked to have this one in the bag when they reached 99-3 in their run chase. Alas it was not to be, but as one of the first two Cheshire League sides to enter this competition, Didsbury have certainly demonstrated how favourably the League’s clubs measure up against some of the best that other leagues have to offer. CHESHIRE WOMEN’S LEAGUE Division Two – June 17: Ashton -on-Mersey 82-6 (40; Azure Wilkinson 24, Poppy Donohue 2-13) (24pts) Leigh 34 (16; Wilkinson 3-7, Sarah Sutcliffe 3-9, Amanda Gettins 3-15) (3pts) • Ashton’s bowlers were all in good form as they combined to beat Leigh in this low-scoring encounter June 24: Ashton -on-Mersey 169-9 (40; Becky Baldock 43, Mary Priestner 33, Beth Garnett 3-19, Zoe Jones 3-23) (25pts) Stockport Georgians 151-8 (40; Beth Garnett 50, Jane Bellwood 30, Amanda Gettins 4-28, Amelia Beddy 2-24) (10pts) • A closely fought encounter, but in the end it was the fast-improving Ashton-on-Mersey side who held their nerve.
