Encompassed by rolling hillsides interwoven with a patchwork of cypress trees, vineyards, and olive groves, Montepulciano is home to one of ’s most treasured reds: Vino Nobile. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, or “Noble Wine”, was famously enjoyed by Kings, Nobles, and even U.S. Presidents. Perhaps Thomas Jefferson said it best, “For the present I confine myself to the physical want of some good Montepulciano…this being a very favorite wine and habit having rendered the light and high flavored wines of a necessary of life with me. 5 FEATURED PROSECCO Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze, Dry, Bisol, "Cartizze", 2018 - $112 The hill of Cartizze, located to the north of Venice, is undeniably known to be "Grand Cru" territory in the vast region of Prosecco. With its dramatically steep slopes and ancient soils, the Bisol family has continuously worked the vineyards here since 1542. Today, brothers Gianlucca and Desiderio Bisol continue the family's leg- acy with a focus on meticulous, site-specific vinification while also practicing organic farming and environmen- tal sustainability. The "Cartizze" cuvée is the winery's finest expression with notes of fresh wildflowers, white peaches, and green apples--finishing with lively and persistent bubbles. SPARKLING WINE

7 FEATURED CHAMPAGNE Brut, Gosset, "Grand Reserve", NV - $147 Founded in 1584, Gosset is the oldest continuously operating wine house in the region of Champagne. In the early days, Gosset was known for its still red wines made from some of the most sought after Pinot Noir plantings in the village of Aÿ. The wines from Aÿ were of such high quality that the King of France often favored them for their paralleled elegance to the top wines of Burgundy. Gosset has since evolved into one of the great Champagne powerhouses producing some of the finest bubbles in the region. A blend of mostly Pinot Noir grapes, followed by Chardonnay and a touch of Meunier, Gosset’s “Grand Reserve” cuvée still drinks like Burgundy—but now in 3-D.. 9 FEATURED LANGHE WHITE Ceretto, "Blangé", 2017 - $64 Ceretto's Blangé vineyard is soley planted to one of Piedmont's most important white grapes: Arneis. Literally translating to "little rascal" for its difficulties in cultivating, Arneis has made a significant comeback since the 1970s. The Blangé vineyard name is derived from the French word "boulanger", or baker, as this was the site where Napoleon's bakers set up camp, wafting the aromas of freshly baked bread to the locals as his armies invaded the region. With notes of yellow pear, Meyer lemon, and almond, this crisp white classically pairs with many of northern Italy's famous alpine dishes. 17 FEATURED CHARDONNAY Fisher, "Mountain Estate", 2016 - $104 Founded in 1973, Fisher is perched atop the Mayacamas mountains dividing Napa and Sonoma. The Chardonnay is all estate fruit harvested from 1,300 feet on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas. At this height, the grapes receive early morning sunlight but stay cool in the afternoon allowing for slow and steady ripening. This is classic California Chardonnay at its best! Look for notes of green apples, honeydew melon, butterscotch, and ripe papaya. It has a rich and creamy texture finishing with vanilla and salted caramel. AMERICAN CHARDONNAY

Today, Matteo Sardagna continues to grow the estate, embodying his great- grandfathers' political philosophy in the vineyards: innovation with respect for tradition. The relatively overlooked commune of Dogliani is where both the Einaudi family and a "little sweet" grape call home. While its name can be misleading because Dolcetto is decidedly dry, this wine shines with dark, rich fruit and a soft, earthy finish. PIEDMONT RED

21 FEATURED "ALTO PIEMONTE" RED Costa della Sesia, Proprietà Sperino, "Uvaggio", 2015 -$97 A little over a century ago, Italy's most celebrated wines derived not from Tuscany, Barolo, or Barbaresco but from the foothills of the Alps in the region of: "Alto Piemonte". After the economic impact of two World Wars, however, most wineries were abandoned in this mountainous region, with grape farmers moving to nearby Milan where factories could triple their wages. Before the exodus of farmers and winemakers, it was here, not Chianti Classico, where the family of legendary Paolo de Marchi got its start. After leading a renaissance in producing higher quality Chianti at his Isole e Olena estate, Paolo turned his dreams of returning fame to his family's birthplace into a reality. In 1999, he re-opened his great Uncle's Proprietà Sperino winery in Lessona and today produces some of the finest Nebbiolo (aka: Spanna), which possesses the softness and elegance of great Burgundian Pinot Noir. 23 FEATURED BAROLO Luigi Oddero, 2013 - $151 Whether you're a vintner, enologist, sommelier, or simply lover of fine wine, all would agree that Barolo stands among the most elite wines of the world. Just as Burgundy lovers forever debate the nuances of Vosne Romanée versus, say, Gevrey-Chambertin, Barolo enthusiasts of today discuss structural differences and aromatic distinctions found in each of Barolo's unique subzones. Luigi Oddero produces Barolo from the Helvetian soils of Serralunga d'Alba resulting in wines with more robust structure and deeper complexity. 29 FEATURED BARBARESCO Moccagatta, "Bric Balin", 2013 - $157 Moccagatta begins its story back in the 1850s when Giovanni Minuto purchased some of the greatest hillside vineyards in the sublime region of Barbares- co. After recognizing the uniquely perfumed qualities of the grapes grown here, Giovanni's son, Luigi, pro- duced the family's first vintage in 1913. The estate continues to blend traditional and modern wine-mak- ing concepts accomplishing a powerfully, rich expression of Nebbiolo yet refined by subtle flavors of black cherry, dried violet, and white truffle. 35 FEATURED PRODUCER Gaja Angelo Gaja is the man credited for bringing the small commune of Barbaresco out of obscurity. His influence has changed the way the world views Italian wine to this day. A master of Nebbiolo--the austere, tannic grape once considered only quaffable after decades of bottle age, Angelo saw its potential as a world-class wine. Despite pushback from his peers, he employed new (and what most considered outlandish) practices both in the vineyard and the winery to promote freshness and elegance in his wine. The story of Gaja is a truly fascinating one, but is best told through a glass of his stunning Barbaresco...(hint, hint) THE WINES OF ANGELO GAJA

37 FEATURED CARMIGNANO Bacchereto, "Terre a Mano", 2012 - $128 Carmignano is one of the smallest and oldest wine regions in all of Italy. Though its history of winemaking dates back to the Roman era, it was officially recognized by Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de’ Medici for producing the highest quality wine among all of the surrounding regions. In the 18th century, vine cuttings from Chateau Lafite- Rothschild were planted and the practice of blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Sangiovese set this tiny commune apart long before the "Super Tuscan" era of the 1970's. Bacchereto’s “Terra a Mano” bottling expertly showcases the elegance and the power of classic Carmignano. TUSCAN RED

41 FEATURED SUPER TUSCAN Tenuta di Arceno, "Arcanum", 2006 - $104 The Super Tuscan movement began in the early 1970s and quickly spread like wildfire. As the "unofficial" star of the region, these wines were made famous by incor- porating non-native grapes including Cabernet Sauvi- gnon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Tenuta di Arceno's top bottling "Arcanum", masterfully blends these Tuscan-grown varieties into a powerful yet elegant style that stands up against the best of Napa and Bor- deaux. "SUPER TUSCANS"

43 FEATURED BOLGHERI Michele Satta, 2017 - $76 It is important to give distinction to the wines of Bol- gheri's "Golden Coast" as they are grown in an envi- ronment like none-other in Tuscany. Due to the unique juxtaposition of terrain and climate, Bolgheri was awarded its own D.O.C. in 1984. With its close proximity to the Tyrrhennian Sea to the west moderating the heat with a constant breeze and with an amphitheater of hills encompassing the region in the east, Bolgheri is known to produce powerfully structured red wines. Michele Satta capitalizes off of this Mediterranean climate with mature vines and high density plantings offering ripe and approachable wine finishing with classic Tuscan savoriness. 45 FEATURED PRODUCER Tenuta dell'Ornellaia When your cousin is Nicoló della Rocchetta of "Sassicaia" and your brother is Piero Antinori of "Solaia" you are undoubtedly destined for greatness. Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was Ludovico Antinori's competitive answer. Founded in 1981, Ludovico worked with the legendary Napa oenologist, André Tchellistcheff, to produce Italy's answer to "First Growth Bordeaux". Not only did Ludovico succeed, he sent shockwaves through the wine-world by cr eating not one, but two exceptional wines. "Ornellaia" is a blend of varietals similar to what you might find at Château Lafite on the left bank of Bordeaux, expressing power and finesse. In this analogy, "Masseto" is the Château Pétrus and made with only Merlot--a wine that will shake you to your inner core. THE WINES OF ORNELLAIA & MASSETO

FEATURED VENETO RED Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Zenato, 2015 - $159 Just outside of Verona lies the hills of Valpolicella where one of Italy's greatest wines is produced: Amarone. This noble wine is one of the most full- bodied styles you will find anywhere on the planet. Zenato's bottling is ripe, powerful, and concentrated with a soft velvety texture. The use of new French barrels gives an already rich and opulent wine, layers of spice, mocha, and dark chocolate. Look for notes of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and dried herbs. VENETO RED

49 FEATURED LOMBARDY RED Valtellina Superiore, Dirupi, 2015 - $98 Just south of the Swiss border lies the sensational region of Valtellina. With vineyards terraced upon impossibly steep mountains, Valtellina is home to the best Nebbiolo outside of Piedmont. Here Nebbiolo is called “Chiavennasca” and produces one of Italy’s most sophisticated reds. Positioned at a near 90 degree incline, mechanized farming is not an option here forcing grape farmers to look after each grape by hand. With high risk comes great reward in Valtellina and with one of the prized vineyards named Inferno, it becomes apparent how grape farmers feel about working at these heights. 53 FEATURED PINOT NOIR Hirsch, "San Andreas Fault", Sonoma Coast, 2016 - $152 In 1980, trailblazer David Hirsch purchased a unique piece of land, which many criticized as too extreme for growing grapes. His namesake vineyard is nestled right above the fault line of the Pacific and North American tectonic plates, experiencing the extremes of dismally wet winters and drastically dry summers. In constant struggle, David's vines not only endured but thrived, yielding richer, more intense flavors with scintillating complexity. It wasn't long before David's "seismic Pinot" drew the attention of Burt Williams (Williams Selyem), Ted Lemon (Littorai), and Steve Kistler (Kistler), who eventually were deemed worthy enough to buy their own block of Hirsch Vineyards. 57 FEATURED ZINFANDEL Turley, "Old Vines", California, 2017 - $79 Turley is to Zinfandel what James Brown is to Funk. Beginning in the early 1990s, Larry Turley has led a "Zin-Renaissance" through the act of restoring ancient vines of lost vineyards and unleashing the true potential of California's most historic grape. The "Old Vines" cuvée is a concentrated blend of several of these vineyards with an average of 80+ year-old grapevines. This fuller-bodied red embodies flavors of ripe blackberries, peppercorns, and savory herbs with a silky-textured finish. 59 FEATURED GRENACHE Tuck Beckstoffer, “Melée”, California, 2016 - $92 Raised in his fathers’ vineyards and schooled in local cellars, Tuck Beckstoffer is a new-world gladiator: championing Napa Valley in all her glory. Stunningly complex blends are crafted at his recently acquired St. Helena estate, from prized fruit (former Sine Qua Non vines) and by sage consultants Philipe Melka and Michel Roland. This Grenache is textural, balanced by lean and mean Syrah, offering a wine of both poise and presence - expect a mouthful of baked fruits, cured meats, and floral spices. Yes, its sweet but just as complex with layers of exotic fruit and honey that would make any foie gras blush! DESSERT WINE

63 FEATURED ZINFANDEL MAGNUM Ridge, "Lytton S.", Dry Creek, 2017 -$272 The story of Ridge begins in 1885 when a famed northern Italian doctor by the name of Osea Perrone, purchased 180 acres at 2,600 feet up Monte Bello Ridge in Santa Cruz. Dr. Perrone created terraces above the rocky slopes using local limestone and planted vineyards, which produced his first vintage in 1892. After a few decades of decline in production due to Prohibition, Ridge re-emerged in 1940s and became known for producing some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in California. In 1969, a philosophy major named Paul Draper became the acting winemaker who garnered a reputation for eschewing formal enology techniques in favor of “hand’s off” winemaking allowing for regional expression and intensity in his wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and the native Zinfandel account for most of production while other grapes such as Grenache, Carignane, and Petite Sirah are produced in smaller quantities. LARGE FORMAT
