The article seeks to address the question by exploring images and god posters dedicated to the planetary deity Shani on Web 2.0. The article tracks Shani’s presence on a range of online platforms—from the religion and culture pages of newspapers to YouTube videos and social media platforms. Using Shani’s presence on the Web as a case study, the article argues that content drawn from popular Hinduism, dealing with astrology, ritual, religious vows and observances, form a significant and substantial aspect of online Hinduism. The article draws attention to the specific affordances of Web 2.0 to radically rethink what engaging with the sacred object in a virtual realm may entail. In doing so, it indicates what the future of Hindu religiosity may look like. Kapoor Preface Shri Mantreswara's 'Phaladeeplka' holds a most distinguished position amongst the great ancient astrological classics alongwith Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, Varahmihira's Brihat Jataka and Vaidya Natha's Jataka Parijata. It deals in a most comprehensive and authoritative manner with almost all the astrological aspects of human life. There can be said to be nothing that this great work has omitted from its purview. Some of the important subjects dealt with in a lucid manner in the book are: description and characteristic features of the various signs, planets and bhavas (houses), the various kinds of strengths of planets and their awasthas with their effects, sources of livelihood, yogas or planetary combinations leading to affluence and poverty, effects of planets in different houses, effects of different Ascendants, Female horoscopy, matters relating to matrimony and progeny determination of longevity, judgment of houses, various kinds of Dasas and their effects, Ashtakavarga and its importance in the judging of effects of transit of planets, transit effects of planets and constellations, and description and influence of upagrahas. The author of this book Shri Mantreswara is believed to have lived in the 13th century when this valuable work must have been compiled. It is said that he belonged to a family of Namboodari Brahmins and he was born in tirinevelley District of the erstwhile Madras Presidency (now known as Tamil Nadu). He was a devotee of Sukuntlambki Devi. As a young man his name was Markandeya Bhattadri.     Pancha Maha Purusha Yoga “Yoga” is a Sanskrit word derived from the root “yuj” which means to yoke or join, and is used in Vedic astrology to indicate coming together of two or more grahas in a certain manner. There are numerous, and if I may say so, literally thousands of yogas that are given in the Vedic astrology texts. All Vedic astrologers, from the beginners to the most learned know about the “Pancha Maha Purusha” yogas. The yogas are based on position of five planets and the literal meaning of “Pancha Maha Purusha yoga” is “five types of yogas that occur in birth-charts of great men” In Vedic astrology, we find many yogas having the same name but with different planetary combinations. Pancha Maha Purusha yogas however, do not seem to suffer from allotment of its name to any other set of planetary combination. Sage Parashara indicates the primacy of these yogas, by devoting a separate chapter to Pancha Maha Purusha yogas. As the very name implies the yoga arises due to certain positions of 5 different grahas.
