South County Trojans Elite Youth Football Announces Coaching Staff for its 10U Division

Former of the back-to-back OCJAAF division champion Mission Viejo Cowboys’ 13U and 14U teams joins the South County Trojans to lead 10U division

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (Mar. 18, 2019) – The board of directors of South County Trojans Elite Youth Football announced today that Coach Terry Anderson has accepted the head coach and defensive coordinator positions for the chapter’s 10-and-under (10U) team.

“Coach Terry is beloved by players and their families for his transformative coaching approach that focuses on building a winning team culture and the development of confident young men,” said Chad Johnson, chairman of the Trojans’ board and head coach of Mission Viejo High School Football. “Above all, his coaching style develops young players into athletes who love the game, who thrive in a competitive atmosphere and who achieve the highest level of their capabilities.”

Coach Anderson has played and coached football for decades. Collegiately, he played running back at East Carolina University and Bowie State University prior to his service in the Marine Corps, where he also competed at the running back position in the Corps’ intramural eight-man league. Anderson has more than a decade of experience coaching youth football, including more than 300 athletes in Mission Viejo and surrounding areas. He served as head coach of the legendary Mission Viejo Cowboys 13U and 14U teams, which won back-to-back Orange County Junior All- Conference division championships under his watch, as well as advancing to the 2016 Super Bowl league championship game.

“My pledge to our 10U families is that my coaching staff will have your sons playing the game of football the right way at a very young age, and we will have them playing at a 12U level by the end of the season,” said Coach Terry. “We are excited to demonstrate that with the right coaching, commitment and competitive atmosphere, it is possible to have 10U teams running a high school-level spread offense and advanced defensive schemes. I’m looking forward to a tremendous season!”

Joshua Walker serves as Coach Anderson’s offensive coordinator. Coach Walker is currently assistant

-more- defensive coordinator at Saddleback Valley Christian High School, a position he has held since 2016. He also has five years of experience coaching club-level football with OCJAAF’s South County Patriots as their offensive coordinator and Pop Warner San Clemente, where he served as Coach Anderson’s offensive coordinator.

Sean Tunavasa serves as the 10U team’s offensive and defensive line coach. Coach Tunavasa played collegiate football for the University of Utah as an offensive lineman. He also has 15 years of elite youth coaching experience, including a number of years coaching the Mission Viejo Cowboys offensive and defensive lines, the OC Buckeyes 8U offensive and defensive lines, as well as Pop Warner experience. Coach Tunavasa’s oldest son currently plays college football for Dixie State University as a defensive lineman, his younger son is currently a Mission Viejo High School defensive tackle with eight division one college offers, and his daughter plays division one soccer at the University of Virginia.

The South County Trojans employ a farm-system training approach similar to that utilized by Football University (FBU), with shared coaching in practice formats. As a result, 10U players will also have regular exposure and coaching input from the staff in the higher divisions as they move through practice rotations on the field.
