MEDIA CLIPS – July 24th, 2018 Inbox: Should Rox pursue reliever at Deadline? Beat reporter Thomas Harding answers questions from Colorado fans By Thomas Harding MLB.com @harding_at_mlb Jul. 23rd, 2018 DENVER -- The most likely way the Rockies will pick to keep their surge going is to improve the bullpen by the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline -- or at least that's the way I'm answering the first question in the Edward Jones Beat Reporter's Inbox. Thomas Harding ✔@harding_at_mlb Please tweet me here with your questions for the next @EdwardJones #Rockies Beat Reporter's Inbox. Eric Swanson@Eric_C_Swanson With all the money spent on the bullpen this offseason, yet it still seems to be a need for this team; is there any chance they make a move to acquire a reliever at the deadline? 7:08 AM - Jul 23, 2018 This question is the biggest one that the Rockies are likely to address. In doing so, let's address exactly what the need is. First, I'll determine what's pertinent, and any stat for any reliever that takes into account the season is not. I'm going to look at the Rockies' bullpen starting June 28, the beginning of the club's current 15-4 run. The full bullpen is 7- 2 with a 3.34 ERA over that period, but even that doesn't tell us the exact areas of strength and need. 1 Let's zero in on key individuals, working from the ninth inning to earlier innings (more or less), starting June 28: • Closer Wade Davis: nine innings pitched, 1.00 ERA, .129 batting average against, 11 strikeouts, two walks • Righty Adam Ottavino: 10 2/3 IP, 3.38 ERA, .318 BAA, 14 SO, 5 BB • Righty Scott Oberg: 10 IP, 1.80 ERA, .278 BAA, 10 SO, 1 BB • Righty Bryan Shaw: 4 1/3 IP (since his return from a right calf strain), 2.08 ERA, .188 BAA, 6 SO, 2 BB • Lefty Chris Rusin: 7 1/3 IP, 6.14 ERA, .323 BAA, 4 SO, 3 BB • Lefty Jake McGee: 5 2/3 IP, 6.35 ERA, .273 BA, 6 SO, 3 BB (.905 OPS against) So this gives the Rockies two ways to shore up the back end of the bullpen.

Letter to the People Dear Delegates, Welcome to VAMUN XL! We are so honored and excited to be hosting you over conference weekend. Considering all the craziness of the past year, we hope our committee can act as a refuge, carrying you out of the real world and into the lives of Danville citizens. I'm Avneet Chhabra, your Chair, and I'm a second-year student studying Politics and Economics. Upon entering the University, I decided to join UVA's very own travel team despite having zero experience, and it was one of the best choices I've ever made! I'm thrilled to be acting as Chair of the novice committee and encourage all newcomers to find the same joy in Model UN as I did. Outside of MUN, I love to cook, read, and go on long walks with friends around UVA's Grounds. We can't wait to virtually host this committee and see all the creative ways that you guys explore the Phineas and Ferb universe. Please reach out to us via email with any questions or concerns you may have! Avneet Chhabra [email protected] Letter to the People 1 Background Danville is a peaceful yet bustling major city in Jefferson County, located in the tri-state area with a population of 241,000. A geographic anomaly, Danville is just a car ride away from extensive forestry, beaches, lakes, and Mount Rush- more. It is governed via a mayorship, with the office being currently held by Roger Doofenshmirtz. Danville is home to a vibrant suburban community, with diverse families and friendly neighbors.

ABSTRACT Title of Dissertation: BASEBALL, CITIZENSHIP, AND NATIONAL IDENTITY IN GEORGE W. BUSH’S AMERICA Ryan Edward King‐White, Doctor of Philosophy, 2008 Dissertation directed by: Professor David L. Andrews Department of Kinesiology The four separate, but related, studies within this research project seek to offer a critical understanding for how American national identit(ies), and particular forms of (cultural) citizenship are discursively constructed and performed in and through the sport of baseball. More specifically, this dissertation will utilize and expand upon critical theories of neoliberalism, citizenship, whiteness, and (physical) cultural studies to engage various empirical sites, which help provide the context for everyday life in contemporary America. Each chapter looks at various empirical aspects of the Little League World Series and the fans of the Boston Red Sox (popularly referred to as Red Sox Nation) that have historically privileged particular performances and behaviors often associated with white, American, heterosexual, upper‐middle class, masculine subject‐positions. In the first instance this project also attempts to describe how ‘normalized’ American citizenship is being (re)shaped in and through the sport of baseball. Secondly, I aim to critically evaluate claims made by both Little League Baseball, and the Boston Red Sox organization, in response to (popular) criticisms (Bryant, 20002; Mosher, 2001a, 2001b, 2001c) of regressive activity and behavior historically related to their organizations, that they
