In continuation of “Capacity Building Program” by Center of Islamic Finance in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), yet another workshop took place in CUI Sahiwal campus on Wednesday 24th April 2019. Venue was Room C4 of Block C in CUI Sahiwal. The Invitations The invitees of this workshop consisted on Ulema-e-karaam (Islamic Scholars) of various schools of thought from Sahiwal and surroundings. Prominent madrissas of Sahiwal were visited by Mr Bilal Mian (Senior Program Officer CUI Sahiwal) for invitations in person, and ulema & senior students were invited.
The Workshop Day: On Wednesday the 24th April 2019, guests started reaching the venue around 8:30 am and the team of ushers guided them to their seats.

Molana Bilal recited few verses from the Quran-e-Kareem and Mr Safdar Ali presented naat- shareef.
Focal Person (CIF) Mr Bilal Iqbal Mian welcomed everyone and introduced COMSATS, CUI and its Center of Islamic Finance.

Head of Center of Islamic Finance, Prof. Dr. Abdus Sattar Abbasi highlighted the objectives of the workshop.
The trainer nominated by State Bank of Pakistan for this workshop was Mufti Syed Sabir Hussain, the Resident Shariha Board member, Head of Shariah Compliance MCB Islamic Bank.
Mufti Syed Sabir Hussain informed the participants about Islamic banking and the principles of Islamic economy. He said that due to uniformity in the apparent method of Islamic and commercial banking, it is generally considered that these two systems are the same, but there is a clear difference between the two systems.
He said that there is a clear and strict system for shariah compliance in the State Bank of Pakistan, under which it is ensured that Islamic banking should be kept separately from the conventional banking. He explained the various topics of Shariah including fiqh-e-muamlat, riba and various modes and products of Islamic Finance including. The session was interactive and a lot of questions were asked by the participants that were answered by the trainer.

Tea and Lunch were served to the participants. Chief guest was Dr Zahiruddin Shaikh of CUI Sahiwal.

Prof. Dr. Abdus Satar Abbasi and Dr. Zahiruddin Sheikh presented campus shield to guest speaker/trainer Mufti Syed Sabir Hussain and distributed certificates from CIF & SBP at the completion of workshop.
