JOURNAL OF THE SENATE -401- Thursday, February 1, 2007 THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2007 The Senate met at 12 m. and was called to order by Lieutenant Governor William T. Bolling. The Reverend Dr. James A. Hewitt III, Braddock Street United Methodist Church, Winchester, Virginia, offered the following prayer: Wonderful and holy God, Lover of justice, mercy and peace for all humankind; We come to You in prayer for the Senate of the Commonwealth of Virginia. We ask for Your guidance for the deliberations of this body: That a spirit of good will might prevail across the differences and desires of our common life. We pray that those who are elected to serve here will be able to act in the best interest of the most Virginians. We pray for our citizens who are in harms way overseas; We pray for the success of their mission and their swift return to home and hearth. We pray for our governor, for the entire General Assembly, for the court system and for the constitutional officers of every county, That fullness of life might avail for all Virginians, from the Shenandoah Valley and the western mountains, across the Piedmont to the Tidewater and the Eastern Shore. Bless us all we pray in Your most holy name. Amen.
