Press Release February 2016 Falmouth Live to stage major music acts

UB40 performing in Falmouth on Events Square on Sunday 26 June heralds the launch of Falmouth Live, a dynamic new partnership that aims to attract major music acts to the town for the benefit of local residents, the Falmouth business community and visitors from across Cornwall and beyond.

Falmouth Live is a collaboration between The MJR Group and lead partners, South West Bars & Events and Falmouth Festivals, supported by Falmouth Town Management and the Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID). Its aim is to enhance Falmouth’s existing festival programme and to encourage more locals and visitors to experience the town’s wider offer.

“We are delighted to be able to secure a band of the calibre of UB40 to launch Falmouth Live” says Tim Vigus for South West Bars & Events and Falmouth Festivals. “I’m really excited at the thought of major names in the music industry performing against the backdrop of Falmouth’s beautiful harbour, on Events Square, on a regular basis throughout the year, providing locals with memorable experiences as well as attracting new audiences to our thriving town.”

“Working together to celebrate all that is colourful, vibrant, innovative and quirky about Falmouth is what the Falmouth Live concept is all about,” adds Falmouth BID Manager, Richard Wilcox. “We are constantly seeking different ways to showcase our town as a must- visit destination to new audiences from both within the county and outside it. We have terrific open-air venues and stunning coastal scenery aligned with an eclectic range of businesses, shops and food and drink outlets so adding more high-calibre music acts to the mix is a logical next step in terms of driving footfall to benefit the local economy.”

Falmouth Town Manager, Richard Gates, concludes: “This is another great example of Falmouth’s community coming together to make exciting things happen. Destinations that are innovative and forward-thinking have the advantage in a highly competitive marketplace and Falmouth Live provides us with a new opportunity to raise the profile of our town. We will be liaising with local residents groups, businesses and organisations to ensure they have all the information they need to capitalise on forthcoming Falmouth Live events.”
