In , an average of 700 children are poisoned by lead each year. It costs $2,500/unit to make a unit LEAD SAFE from lead paint hazards. A child disabled by lead poisoning may utilize $100,000 per year for the rest of their life in State, Federal, and Medicaid benefits. This bill allocates $1 million/year to ensure more lead-safe homes in urban and rural areas.
