Our sincere appreciation to the following supporters: Industrial Clothing HiVis Workwear Safety Boots 15% off Corporate Uniforms Any orders Clubwear Embroidery & Screen Printing Dirt Workwear Solutions Karen Koehler Ph: 07 5495 4300 Email: [email protected] A6 Transact2 S2G promo.indd 1 18/06/2010 11:23:31 AM Welcome Welcome to the Inaugural Sunshine Coast Football night celebrating forty years of Coastal footy. Footy in the region has been hard fought over the years with some wonderful rivalries and many classic matches, both at junior and senior level. There have been many great players and umpires, colourful characters, con- troversial finals, some big representative wins, great clubs and a plethora of fantastic club and league volunteers many of whom will be recognised tonight. The selectors don’t profess to have got the selection absolutely spot on. As with most selection processes in footy there will be debate over who may have missed out but if there is any glaring omissions once the dust has settled then I’m sure they will be included next time. Importantly, the people involved in the selection process are confident that the people inducted deserve to be there. The inductees will have their name engraved on an honour board to be erect- ed at the Multi Sports Complex at Fishermans Road and if there is ultimately to be a team from the Coast representing the region in the QAFL competition then we would like to think that the inductees will automatically become as- sociate life members of that club.

Each year we take this opportunity to acknowledge just a few of the season’s highlights: – highlights such as Veda Ingram & Reed Maskell-Dobbyn, as weekly winners of Auskicker of the Year being involved in the AFL Grand Final Day celebrations. This included playing in an Auskick game on the MCG, at half time of the AFL Grand Final and then getting to present Premiership medals the Premiership players. May you remember this for ever! To continue the Sunshine Coast theme on AFL Grand Final day, congratulations to the two Under 16 players, Sam Panaho from Caloundra and Aaron Laskey from Noosa – both made significant contributions to Queensland winning the National Championships. Aaron backed this up by being one of only 11 or 12 recipients nationally for a ‘Mike Fitzpatrick Scholarship’. Each year we acknowledge the work of our many volunteers who make our game possible.

Enright played junior football with the Kimba Districts Tigers and transitioned through the grades to senior football at the age of 15. By 17 he was the regions best player, winning the Eastern Eyre Football League’s Mail Medal for the league’s best and fairest player. He played a few games for the Port Adelaide Magpies under 19 team in the SANFL, who at the time were zoned to the Eyre Peninsula. Geelong took a punt on Enright at pick 47 in the 1999 AFL Draft, and little did they know the impact he would have at the Cats. Following his debut in 2001, Enright became a household name in Geelong’s backline. His resume is up there with the greats of the game, a three time Premiership player, twice won the Best & Fairest in Premiership seasons and earned six All-Australian selections as arguably the greatest half back of the modern era. He retired at the conclusion of the 2016 season, playing 332 games in the hoops, and passing Ian Nankervis’ games record for the Geelong Football Club.
