Standing Against Genocide A Solemn Mission

Founded in 2004 by renowned human rights advocate Father Patrick Desbois, Yahad – In Unum (“Together in One”) is a Paris-based global NGO dedicated to discovering genocidal practices wherever they manifest around the world, providing documented proof of these crimes against humanity, and delivering a relentless voice of protest on behalf of all past and present victims of mass murder

In accord with its original mission, Yahad – In Unum unveiled the lost history of World War II, the so-called “Holocaust by Bullets” in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Yahad – In Unum pioneered a proprietary application of modern forensic research to uncover the killings of more than 2.5 million and Roma and the location of more than 2,300 mass murder sites, while interviewing more than 5,700 witness testimonies on the war crimes of the (Nazi Death Squads). Yahad – In Unum has made great strides in raising worldwide public awareness of this tragic episode of history through its ongoing and highly acclaimed “Holocaust by Bullets” touring museum exhibit.

To fulfill this solemn undertaking, Yahad – In Unum is now in a race against time. Realistically, no more than 3 years remain to capture the eyewitness accounts of living witnesses and locate the remaining mass killing sites before all living testimony is silenced forever. Father Desbois and the entire organization are committed to ensuring that the history of these atrocities does not die with the last witnesses.

Constant Vigilance Today

Sadly, the scourge of genocide is still with us. In today’s turbulent world, Yahad-In Unum is more relevant than ever. Yahad-In Unum’s relentless study and research into the “Holocaust by Bullets” has revealed a chilling connection to today’s world…modern terrorists have adopted the same method of improvised shootings and executions as were used by Nazi killing units during WWII.

Our organization has vigorously expanded the scope of its mission by applying its time-tested field research methods to modern day crime sites in order to expose and impede any form of mass murder anywhere. To this end, Yahad-In Unum is engaged on numerous fronts:

Action Formed in 2015, the Action Yazidis Initiative seeks justice, closure, and recovery for the victims of the Yazidi genocide at the hands of ISIS. For three years Yahad-In Unum has collected witness testimony from survivors of the brutal ISIS attacks, escaped sex-slaves and brainwashed boy terrorists known as Cubs of the Caliphate. Yahad – In Unum has also acted to help Yazidi victims re-enter society by hosting skill training and psychological support workshops in several of the biggest IDP (internally displaced person) camps in northern Iraq.

The Museum of in Guatemala

In January of 2016, Yahad - In Unum founded the first and only museum of the Holocaust in Central America. In its partnership with the Ministry of Education of Guatemala and the Jewish community of Guatemala, the Museum has since become the ultimate educational resource for both students and teachers on all matters pertaining to the Holocaust, genocide and anti-Semitism…not just in Guatemala but throughout Central America. The Museum trains hundreds of educators each year in a state-supported curriculum that examines the “Holocaust by Bullets” with more than 50,000 students having visited the Museum so far. In 2017, the Museum was nominated by The Leading Cultural Destination (LCD) Awards for “Best New Museum of the Year – South/Central America”.

Enhanced Educator Training

In November of 2017, Father Desbois and Yahad-In Unum launched the "Holocaust by Bullets"- Enhanced Teacher Training seminars across Europe, Latin America and the United States. The seminars are designed to equip educators with the tools and resources to teach a concise historical overview of the often overlooked “Holocaust by Bullets” of WWII. Among the many venues is a week-long training conference for more than 2,000 participants in Denver, CO and a customized program for the staff of Auschwitz Museum in Oświęcim, . Field Coursework

Yahad-In Unum is continuously educating students and others on the horrors of the Holocaust…from high school level through advanced graduate studies. Field trips give students the opportunity to learn about the “Holocaust by Bullets” through vivid personal experiences by meeting with the witnesses to the crime and by visiting the sites of mass graves and other places of Jewish memory. For many students, these field trips are the culmination of annual courses that Father Desbois and his team teach at universities in Europe (Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne, University of Albi, American University of Paris), and the US ().

Past, Present, and Future In summary, Yahad-In Unum is working on virtually all fronts in its determined stand against genocide:

• We are investigating atrocities of the past and present.

• We are educating the world about the plague of genocide and helping present-day survivors recover from their nightmare and rejoin society.

• We are working to bring future justice to those individuals who are responsible for the commission of unthinkable crimes against humanity.
