Project leaders quickly realized the need for a secondary performance space for UNL students to rehearse and for smaller scale community and experimental productions to take place. It was decided that the generous gift from Mr. Carson would go towards what is known today as the Johnny Carson Theater. This black box theater is a versatile space that is utilized for small theater, dance or musical performances as well as dinners, receptions, rehearsals and meetings. This space can seat 250 patrons theater style and 216 at banquet tables. Today the Johnny Carson Theater is home to countless projects that require a more intimate space including the Lied Center’s own efforts to develop new Broadway musical theater works through the “Grow A Show” Festival and various workshops.

The Glenn Korff Broadway Series Endowment is making an immeasurable impact on the performing arts in Nebraska.

Korff’s passion for performing arts began on campus as a member of Kosmet Klub, a male musical and comedy ensemble, for which he served as a set designer. His experiences with theater at the University were among his most cherished memories. The Lied Center was selected to receive support with the hope that a stellar lineup of Broadway
