September 2016

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for expressing your interest in the position of Maths Tutor at the North Ashfield Behaviour and Attendance Trust.

The Trust is the incorporation of the School Behaviour and Attendance Partnership (SBAP) in North Ashfield. To date, the partnership between Ashfield School, Kirkby College, Quarrydale and has been extremely effective in lowering permanent exclusion rates and supporting young people at risk of permanent exclusion. However, our work isn‘t exclusively about behaviour; we support students from a variety of backgrounds, and with a wide range of issues that often make access to mainstream education a challenging prospect.

Our aim is to ensure that all young people in North Ashfield have the opportunity to access education and meet their potential.

The partnership established the highly successful SPACE Learning Centre almost five years ago, providing intervention and alternative education in North Ashfield. Since then, the work of the partnership has grown and we opened a new KS4 centre in January 2016.

We are looking for staff who are passionate about young people and who possess the drive and determination to affect change in their lives. Applicants should be open to new ideas and challenges, and be able to adapt to the ever-changing needs of a dynamic and flexible learning environment.

Initially, the post is advertised for one year. However, subject to funding arrangements there may be scope for it to become a permanent position. This will be discussed more fully to those candidates invited to interview.

I look forward to receiving your application.

Yours faithfully

Matt Morris Director North Ashfield Behaviour and Attendance Trust

Maths Tutor

Salary: Grade 5 Range 24-28 (£21,530 - £24,472) Contract: One-year Working pattern: Term Time Only Location: SPACE Learning Centre, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, NG17 7DT Closing Date: Tuesday 19th October Closing Time: 12 noon

We are looking to appoint an experienced Maths practitioner to work in our dynamic centre for alternative provision. The successful candidate will be solely responsible for the planning and delivery of our KS4 Maths curriculum, and the planning of intervention delivered to small groups and on a 1:1 basis. The Maths tutor will deliver the curriculum to North Ashfield students at the SPACE Learning Centre, and to external students both within the centre and within other alternative environments. The successful candidate will also support the development of numeracy across the entire SPACE Learning Centre, providing resources and guidance to the KS3 team.

Reporting to the Head of Curriculum Development, you will plan, deliver and assess an engaging and fun Maths curriculum to students who have found it difficult to access mainstream education, preparing them appropriately for examinations. You will also have the opportunity to develop additional courses in areas that are of interest to you.

It is essential that applicants have the appropriate level of qualification and experience to successfully deliver the Maths curriculum, and will ideally have previous experience from a similar role. Prior knowledge of alternative provision would be an advantage, as would the ability to deliver a second subject.

Visits to our centre are welcome.
