February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. through FILMS 70 years of European History through films is a product in Erasmus+ project „70 years of European History 1945-2015”. It was prepared by the teachers and students involved in the project – from: Greece, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey. It’ll be a teaching aid and the source of information about the recent European history. A DANGEROUS METHOD (2011) Director: David Cronenberg Writers: Christopher Hampton, Christopher Hampton Stars: Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen Country: UK | GE | Canada | CH Genres: Biography | Drama | Romance | Thriller Trailer In the early twentieth century, Zurich-based Carl Jung is a follower in the new theories of psychoanalysis of Vienna-based Sigmund Freud, who states that all psychological problems are rooted in sex. Jung uses those theories for the first time as part of his treatment of Sabina Spielrein, a young Russian woman bro- ught to his care. She is obviously troubled despite her assertions that she is not crazy. Jung is able to uncover the reasons for Sa- bina’s psychological problems, she who is an aspiring physician herself. In this latter role, Jung employs her to work in his own research, which often includes him and his wife Emma as test subjects. Jung is eventually able to meet Freud himself, they, ba- sed on their enthusiasm, who develop a friendship driven by the- ir lengthy philosophical discussions on psychoanalysis. Actions by Jung based on his discussions with another patient, a fellow psychoanalyst named Otto Gross, lead to fundamental chan- ges in Jung’s relationships with Freud, Sabina and Emma.

WMC INVESTIGATION: 10-YEAR ANALYSIS OF GENDER & OSCAR NOMINATIONS womensmediacenter.com @womensmediacntr WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER ABOUT THE WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER In 2005, Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem founded the Women’s Media Center (WMC), a progressive, nonpartisan, nonproft organization endeav- oring to raise the visibility, viability, and decision-making power of women and girls in media and thereby ensuring that their stories get told and their voices are heard. To reach those necessary goals, we strategically use an array of interconnected channels and platforms to transform not only the media landscape but also a cul- ture in which women’s and girls’ voices, stories, experiences, and images are nei- ther suffciently amplifed nor placed on par with the voices, stories, experiences, and images of men and boys. Our strategic tools include monitoring the media; commissioning and conducting research; and undertaking other special initiatives to spotlight gender and racial bias in news coverage, entertainment flm and television, social media, and other key sectors. Our publications include the book “Unspinning the Spin: The Women’s Media Center Guide to Fair and Accurate Language”; “The Women’s Media Center’s Media Guide to Gender Neutral Coverage of Women Candidates + Politicians”; “The Women’s Media Center Media Guide to Covering Reproductive Issues”; “WMC Media Watch: The Gender Gap in Coverage of Reproductive Issues”; “Writing Rape: How U.S. Media Cover Campus Rape and Sexual Assault”; “WMC Investigation: 10-Year Review of Gender & Emmy Nominations”; and the Women’s Media Center’s annual WMC Status of Women in the U.S.

  • Orpheus: Cinematic (And Operatic) Evocations
Orpheus: Cinematic (and Operatic) Evocations A number of cinematic productions have featured ancient pagan concepts of death and the afterlife, e.g. The Mummy (1932); Gladiator (2000). Within this sub-corpus, those involving Orpheus have a particular signature that began developing in the Renaissance. Poliziano’s Fabula di Orfeo (c. 1480) synthesized the Vergilian and Ovidian accounts into a pastoral drama. (Segal, 1989) Two early seventeenth century operas, the Rinuccini/Peri Euridice (1600) and the Striggio/Monteverdi L’Orfeo (1607), accommodated Baroque court patronage by refitting the tragic story with a deus ex machina-engendered happy ending. In a political denouement, the Parisian Buti/Rossi Orfeo (1647) pleased the French court by comparing Orpheus’ lyre to the royal fleur-de-lis. Considered together with the popular Halévy/Offenbach operetta, Orphée aux enfers (1858), which features an unhappily married Orpheus and Eurydice, the cumulative effect of such high-profile dramatized adaptations of the Orpheus myth was to transform its original tragic outcome and expand its dramaturgical potential with updated artistic, philosophical, and political themes. The early decades of the twentieth century contributed a dense cluster of equally innovative Orpheus operatic productions leading to Jean Cocteau‘s one-act tragédie, Orphée (1926), revised in 1950 as the first film featuring Orpheus. In his 1973 essay Du Cinématographe, Cocteau revealed his artistic reason for selecting Orpheus as his protagonist: (Cocteau, 1992) Nobody can believe in a famous poet whose name has been invented by a writer. I had to find a mythical bard, the bard of bards, the Bard of Thrace. And his story is so enchanting that it would be crazy to look for another.

  • MASTERPIECE on PBS to Co-Produce “Press” Contemporary Drama Set in the Turbulent World of Newspapers Through New Deal with BBC Worldwide and Lookout Point
MASTERPIECE on PBS to Co-Produce “Press” Contemporary Drama Set in the Turbulent World of Newspapers Through New Deal with BBC Worldwide and Lookout Point Pasadena, CA; January 15, 2017; Rebecca Eaton, Executive Producer of MASTERPIECE, announced today that Press, written by Mike Bartlett (Doctor Foster, King Charles III) and produced by Deep Indigo, Lookout Point and BBC Studios for BBC ONE, will premiere in the US as a co-production with MASTERPIECE on PBS, through a new deal with BBC Worldwide North America and Lookout Point. Press is an ambitious new series set in today’s newspaper industry — its past riven by hacking scandals, its present at the mercy of the digital age and the 24-hour news cycle, its future uncertain. Bartlett’s razor sharp and observant drama will explore the turbulent media landscape through the fortunes of rival broadsheet and tabloid papers and the very different and colorful characters who work for them. BAFTA award-winning producer Nigel Stafford-Clark, who has developed and is producing the show, comments, "At a time when both the nature and the role of the press have themselves become part of the news, there's never been a better moment to focus on this unique world as the basis of a major television series. And I can't think of anyone better to take that on than Mike Bartlett." Lookout Point’s Faith Penhale, Executive Producer, comments “We’re delighted to be working with Mike and Nigel on a series with so much contemporary resonance and relevance. And given the importance of this drama, it’s exciting to know that this tie-up with MASTERPIECE on PBS will offer significant exposure to audiences in North America on a network with an unparalleled track record in taking great British scripted content across the Atlantic.” Bartlett’s television adaptation of his Tony®-nominated Broadway play, King Charles III, will air on MASTERPIECE on PBS in 2017.

  • Steven Price
STEVEN PRICE COMPOSER Steven Price is an Academy Award winning film composer. His unique, story-driven approach to the craft of film scoring has seen him work on some of the most innovative productions of recent years. From Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity to Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Steven’s individualistic scores seek to enhance the ideas and images of great filmmakers in truly bespoke ways. Steven’s diverse music reflects the wide range of movie and television projects he has been involved with. Beginning his career in the late 1990s, he contributed to productions such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Batman Begins, before making his scoring debut in 2011 with Joe Cornish’s inner-city horror comedy, Attack the Block. Recent years have seen him compose distinctive scores for Claire McCarthy’s reimagining of Hamlet, Ophelia, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and the Paramount Animation Wonder Park. From his incorporation of original WW2 tanks in the percussion of the Brad Pitt starring Fury to the wind instrument driven score created for Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, the music created for each production seeks to give each story its unique voice, the result of an experimental and collaborative process. His work in the Natural History realm, working alongside Sir David Attenborough on The Hunt, (for which Steven won a Bafta), and the Netflix Original Our Planet, (nominated for two score Emmys), will continue in 2020 with a new live arena spectacular, Our Planet Live in Concert, the premiere for which will be held at London’s O2 Arena in October 2020.
