The Explora is a luxurious mountain inn set in the heart of the . The scenery is stunning and the hotel arranges excellent excursions led by knowledgeable guides – part of the all-inclusive price – so you can enjoy the national park with minimal planning. There are easy walks, wildlife viewing with naturalists, and rugged hikes to choose from daily. Food, rooms and service are all excellent.

The best time to visit is from November to April, and it is a great addition to a trip in Chile or Argentina. The weather is tempered by the ocean which is not far to the west, so it’s mild most of the season.

It’s very popular, so book early. There is a minimum four day stay with specific start and end dates from October through April. *note there is a special rate for the Christmas and New Year’s 6 night package.

The hotel features an indoor heated pool, sauna, fitness center, massage rooms, and open air Jacuzzis. Attractions: Views of Glacier Grey and the Macizo Paine. Icebergs. Rivers, gorges and forests, with lookout points. Level: Difficult. Mirador Nordenskjöld Walk Length: Half-day. Attractions: The cascade and roar of Salto Grande waterfall. Views of Valle Francés, Macizo Paine Grande, Cuernos del Paine. Level: Easy. Glacier del Valle del Francés Walk Length: Full day. Picnic. By foot. Attractions: Valle del Francés -- one of the park's most exceptional sectors, and the Cordillera del Paine. View of the Cuernos del Paine, the Macizo Paine Grande (3,050m/ 10,000ft), the Cerro Paine Grande, the Glaciar del Francés, the Lago Nordenskjöld and numerous other lakes and lagoons. NOTE: The boat crossing always depends on weather conditions. Level: Medium. Refugio Pehoé Horseback Ride Length: Full day. Picnic. This exploration requires previous horseback riding experience. Level: Medium. The Quincho Horseback Ride Length: Half-day. Attractions: View of the Sierra Baguales, Torres del Paine, Río de las Chinas. NOTE: Ride takes place before or after the barbecue at the Quincho. Level: Easy. Mirador Condor Walk

Length: Half-day. By foot. Attractions: Introduction to the park, observe different species of plants and birds. This walk is generally taken on the afternoon of guests’ arrival. Level: Medium.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Punta Arenas. Transfer to Explora between 1 and 5 pm depending on flight arrivals. 5 hour ground transfer by comfortable van including a snack break. Arrive lodge and check in to rooms. Overnight Explora en Patagonia.

Days 2-4: Choice of daily activities. Overnight Explora en Patagonia.

Day 5: Depart from hotel between 7 and 8 am for drive back to Punta Arenas.
