Anwar: Back Us If You Agree with Our Policies Malaysiakini.Com March 3, 2007 Soon Li Tsin
Anwar: Back us if you agree with our policies Malaysiakini.com March 3, 2007 Soon Li Tsin Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Anwar Ibrahim made a fiery speech asking for opposition party leaders and members to work hard in the coming elections. Speaking to a 600-strong crowd that gathered at the party’s Chinese New Year open house in Kuala Lumpur last night, Anwar tested his Mandarin much to the crowd’s delight. “Xin nian hao, nian nian hao (happy new year, every year’s a good year),” he greeted to start off his address. In his speech that was sandwiched between singing and harmonica performances, he touched on several issues briefly including the recent dip in the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index. “We want our economy to be better and not have the market perform so badly [...] we don’t want the cost of living to rise ... we want our economy to be taken care off. “If we want every year to be good, we must work hard because Malaysia is (a) good (country), the people are good but the government is not good,” he smiled as the crowd gave a thunderous applause. No empty promises The former deputy premier then switched to a serious tone as he made references to the coming general election. “I’ll be honest tonight, I believe people will be spirited in the coming elections. Last time, Pak Lah had plans but his plans have all been postponed. “We must work hard to change the government. If want to really change the government, we must have a good programme for the people,” he said. -

As I write, the progressive members of PAS are regrouping with the prospects of forming a new party. I wish them Godspeed in their endeavours. We may yet emerge stronger than ever. On the other side of the political front, the very public quarrel between Dr. Mahathir and Prime Minister Najib is nearing boiling point. 'I Fear Not Jail, I Fear Only Allah' Free Malaysia Today 27 March 2014
‘I fear not jail, I fear only Allah’ Free Malaysia Today 27 March 2014 Oleh Luke Rintod PENAMPANG : Even with a looming five-year jail sentence hanging over his head, defiant Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim told supporters in Sabah Wednesday he feared no one but Allah. “I fear not to be jailed. I fear only Allah. They can send me to jail again, and I will continue to speak up for the people and against Umno. I will fight the corrupt Umno leaders till the end,” he thundered at a Reformasi 2.0 gathering of about 500 at Kampung Ramaya in Penampang, last night. The PKR supremo blasted the current Umno-led federal government as the most rotten regime Malaysians had ever witnessed. He said opposition and hatred towards the Umno-led federal government is mounting by the days and it would be unstoppable. “Umno is ruining this country with corruption, indignity and incapability of good governance. The people must stop this rot. “Stop Umno from playing racial and religious issues, and the only way is throwing them away from Putrajaya,” said Anwar in his hour-long fiery speech that captivated his responsive audience. Anwar who is also the MP for Permatang Pauh said the result from the Kajang by-election in Selangor showed that PKR and Pakatan Rakyat have the support of 60% of the electorates and that PKR has the support of the majority of Malays too. “So all the talks by Umno leaders that PKR is only supported by the Chinese and Indian communities proved to be false. -

Vote Buying Will Be Rampant, Says Sarawak PKR Malaysiakini.Com April 4, 2013 by Dukau Papau
Vote buying will be rampant, says Sarawak PKR MalaysiaKini.com April 4, 2013 By Dukau Papau Sarawak PKR expects millions of ringgit to be poured in certain constituencies where its candidates are popular, to influence voters against them. "I anticipate a lot of cash will be distributed not only in Saratok, Lubok Antu, Baram, but also in Limbang and other constituencies where we are very strong," said Baru Bian, state PKR chairperson after a state PKR committee meeting. Bian (right), the Ba'Kelalan state assemblyperson, alleged this was his experience in the last state election in his constituency. "They came in the middle of the night and offered RM1,000 to RM2,000 to each voter to go for a BN candidate. "This time around, BN will definitely pour millions of ringgit to ensure our candidates are defeated." PKR is particularly strong in Saratok, Baram, Lubok Antu, Limbang and Selangau. Bian will contest in Limbang. "PKR has no financial resources and we depend on good Samaritans. "What we can offer to the people is our policy which is contained in our manifesto. Our policy will give people hope." He urged them to compare and review BN's policies in the last 50 years and look at the Pakatan manifesto and policies, as well as assess states run by Pakatan in the last five years. "I believe the people will make a wise decision," Bian added. Not bought over Meanwhile, Bian strongly denied that PKR potential candidates Antu Nicholas Bawin for Lubok, and Joshua Jabeng for Selangau, have been bought over by Sarawak Workers Party (SWK).
