2010 Annual Report | 3 Letter from our Founder and Chair

Dear Friends,

When I think of all that has been accomplished in the last year at Roundup River Ranch, one word comes to mind: INCREDIBLE! Arriving at this point has been a journey, and we could not have achieved such great success without your generous support and commitment. Because of you, in July 2011, we will welcome our first campers – and give children with life-threatening illnesses amazing experiences that will encourage them throughout the rest of their lives. Whether it is a child’s first time catching a fish, learning to ride a horse, or making new friends, these incredible experiences and more will occur every day at Roundup River Ranch.

Our story is just beginning. Over the next several months, there will be more incredible stories to share as we continue to expand our horizons and reach more children and their families. I invite you to read our 2010 Annual Report and celebrate these incredible accomplishments, and I look forward to sharing our continued progress with you as we move closer to opening day at Roundup River Ranch. On behalf of the board of directors, I thank you for your continued support and commitment to the camp and to the hundreds of campers whose lives will be forever changed by camp.

Sincerely,

Alison Knapp, Founder and Chair

Letter from our Chief Executive Officer

Dear Supporters,

This has been an incredible year of progress at Roundup River Ranch. Despite the challenging economic environment, we achieved many milestones: construction of the camp is nearly complete, we launched our annual fund campaign to support future operations, we hired our camp director, medical director, and several new staff members, and we completed our final season of the On the Road program. All of this was made possible by your generous support and commitment to the camp and our mission.

As we look forward to welcoming our first campers this summer, we remain focused on our goals of providing empowering, fun, and safe camp experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses in the extended Rocky Mountain region – free of charge to campers and their families – and on becoming a full member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps. Because of you, we are well on our way to achieving these goals. On behalf of the Roundup River Ranch staff and the children whose lives will be brightened by your support, THANK YOU.

Sincerely,

Ruth B. Johnson, JD, Chief Executive Officer

10 | 2010 Annual Report Our Philosophy The philosophy of Roundup River Ranch is to provide our campers with the opportunity to recapture their childhood through intentional, all-inclusive, and empowering programs offered year-round. This approach provides campers with encouragement, motivation, and confidence, allowing them to experience activities and embrace the joys of being a kid at camp. Camp provides a positive, respectful, safe, and emotionally supportive environment, along with appropriate medical support. This structure allows campers, their parents and siblings, volunteers, and staff to benefit from the personal enrichment and life-changing experiences offered on a daily basis at camp. Perhaps most importantly, campers and families regain their inner strength while experiencing first-hand that they can have fun and enjoy life away from hospitals and sterile surroundings.

2010 Annual Report | 25 In Memory of Gerald Gallegos

Gerald Gallegos at the groundbreaking for Roundup River Ranch in November 2009 While 2010 was a year of many accomplishments, it was also a year of great sadness for Roundup River Ranch. Gerald Gallegos, a founding board member and devoted supporter of the camp, passed away in August 2010. A community leader and philanthropist, Gerald is deeply missed within our organization and the entire community. In Memory of Gerald Gallegos

Because of Gerald, thousands of children with life-threatening illnesses will attend camp at Roundup River Ranch. Gerald’s leadership, passion, and love for children – coupled with his commitment to the community – were unsurpassed. We all benefited from his vision and dedication. Gerald’s spirit will be with us on opening day this summer and will be carried on at camp where children will laugh, play, and experience the joys of childhood.

A special thank you to everyone who supported Roundup River Ranch in Gerald’s memory. The donations we received will help us send children to camp in our inaugural season.

We will forever remember Gerald Gallegos and his dedication to children and to Roundup River Ranch.
