MEC Masualle extends a word of gratitude to ANC and partners for 20 years of Freedom

Addressing the public that attended the 20 years of Freedom celebrations in Mount Ayliff, MEC for Provincial Planning and Treasury made a clarion call to the nation encouraging them to thank the ANC and partners for the gains of freedom that the country is enjoying today.

The MEC made mention of almost all the achievements that the ANC led government has done in improving the lives of South Africans and in in particular. The MEC was given the mammoth responsibility to address the crowd on the day which he took with willingness and eagerness.

He was appointed by Noxolo Kiviet to speak on her behalf as she attended the national celebrations. “While we all celebrating 20 years of freedom, we mustn’t forget how it was attained, through sweat and blood. It is the ANC and partners that fought for this freedom. It is befitting therefore to say our gratitude to the ANC and those who were working with it,” he said, to a defining cheering of the audience. MEC Masualle acknowledged the fact that even though there is a ground covered in twenty years there is a lot that needs to be done. He further mentioned that today South Africans have a good story to tell as Government is doing all it could to see the people of living a better life.

“Statistics show that 80% of people in this country are black…therefore we need to ensure that economic wealth of this country is also shared amongst and enjoyed by the people who are a majority in this country,” he added. MEC then encouraged people to “use your democratic right and vote on 7 May (2014).”

Also present on the Celebrations were MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs Mlibo Qhoboshiyane, MEC for Roads and Public Works Thandiswa Marawu, Chair of Chairs in the Provincial Legislature Alfred Mtsi and local and District mayors of the hosting District.
