I feel proud to present Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan as a remedy for all those who suffer from calamity, mishap or misfortune. Alkhidmat Foundation has always been among the ﬁrst responders to reach for the rescue of humankind. Here we serve for the humanity without any discrimination and strive hard to fulﬁll our obligation towards the social cause.

We are helping orphan children so they may become independent, bringing employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to help households to earn their livelihood with dignity and honor. We extend hands towards the needy facing extreme situation due to natural or manmade disaster, giving medical treatment to the sick, providing clean drinking water to the water deﬁcient people and bringing light in the life of nation through education and skills development. This year proved to be another gem in the crown of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan as we reached more than 10 million poor and needy people of Pakistan. We didn’t only serve the nation in the country but also the Muslim Ummah across borders. We reached to serve the humanity in Myanmar , Syria and other parts of the world where we helped the helpless with the kind support of our donors and volunteers. We remained steadfast in the service to humanity for providing relief to the needy.

I am thankful to all those who trusted us and helped us serving this social cause of humanity and I wish that this cooperation for the mutual cause of humanity remains thriving forever.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Being among the developing countries, Pakistan has been prone to disasters for many decades. Unfortunately, Pakistan has faced several natural and man-made disasters in last 2 decades including huge ﬂoods, earthquakes and many other mishaps.

Alkhidmat Disaster Management program is a self-sufﬁcient emergency response mechanism established after continuous efforts by the organization, its team of workers and volunteers across the country. This experienced and technologically equipped department has all capabilities ranging from the very ﬁrst response to a calamity to the complete rehabilitation of victims and infrastructure both inside the country & abroad.

World Health Organization (WHO) has ranked Pakistan among 57 countries with critical health workforce deﬁciency while the country is placed at 122nd position in terms of quality of healthcare facilities. Unfortunately Pakistan stands high in the list of top 10 contries with extreme infant mortality.

Being conscious of the situation, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has established countrywide network to provide best healthcare facilities to public, irrespective of their socio-economic status. Under its umbrella currently several Hospitals, Medical Camps, Ambulance Service, Laboratry and Collection Centers and Pharmacies are functional effectively across the country including landmark projects in the remotest and most under-developed areas such as Tharparkar (Sindh).

Low literacy rate of Pakistan has been a big issue for the country. Unfortunately, the ruling elites of the country have been ignoring this crucial issue since ages.

In order to cope up with the situation, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is running educational institutions and related facilities across Pakistan with an aim to ensure education for every Pakistani. Both girls and boys are equally beneﬁtted from our educational projects.

In collabaration with Child Protection and Rehablitation Trust (CPRT), Child Protection Centers are established to rehabilitate street children and prepare them to join formal educational institutions. Alkhidmat Alfalah Scholarship Scheme is providing scholarships to talented needy students on regular basis.

The grave condition of water scarcity is not new in Pakistan and the recent reports released by drinking water inspection authorities suggest that most of the people are drinking unhealthy water across the country. Global organizations have also placed Pakistan among countries where availability of clean drinking water is a serious issue.

Under Clean Water program, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has completed hundreds of water projects that provide clean drinking water to needy communities across the country. This program ensures supply of clean drinking water in water-scarce areas as well as in big cities by installation of water pumps, handpumps and water ﬁltration plants. In the mountainous areas, gravity ﬂow schemes are implemented to ensure the supply of water to the households.

Orphans are considered as the most neglected segment of society worldwide, particularly in the developing countries which host most of the helpless orphan children (Pakistan has over 4.2 million orphan children). Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has established Orphan Care Program to provide necessary support to these vulnerable children.

Orphan Family Support Program (OFSP) Under this sponsorship program, the orphan boys and girls are provided ﬁnancial assistance while they live at their own homes along with their family members. This program has established clusters all across the country. Every cluster is managed by a Family Support Organizer who stays in touch with the families of these orphan children throughout the year. He also ensures that children are provided with best education, nutrition and healthcare.

‘Aghosh Homes’ is a distinctive program of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan dedicated to provide quality educational opportunities to orphan children. These homes provide best educational, residential, healthcare and recreational facilities to the orphan residents for their academic and personal growth. Regular mentoring and counselling sessions are also organized at these centers to equip the children with highest degree of conﬁdence.

Currently, 13 Aghosh Homes are operational that includes one dedicated center at Bani Gala (Islamabad) for girls. One more Aghosh Home for girls is being contructed in Sheikhupura (Punjab).

These children receive excellent facilities and education at these centers to become leaders of tomorrow. And this foundation, which is organizing such excellent centers, is going to make Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah great again with Allah’s will. I believe Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is very professional organization which provides the best treatment to the orphan children as they deserve for their future lives. AT A GLANCE 2019 | 23 UNDER CONSTRUCTION AGHOSH HOMES Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is set to develop and plan new Aghosh Homes all over the country. Six Aghosh Homes are currently under-construction and three others are in planning phase in different cities of the country. Just like the existing Aghosh Homes, these orphanages will also be dedicated to provide equal opportunities to the orphan children in the form of best educational, residential, healthcare and recreational facilities for their academic and personal growth. To provide necessary support to the children without parents and secure a bright and successful future for them, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan will also facilitate the children residing at these homes through an extensive Child Character Development Program, which regularly arranges activities for their psychological wellbeing and moral growth, just like the existing Aghosh Homes. To ensure transparency and efﬁciency for the construction of Aghosh Homes, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is also engaging local communities. It is ensured that these projects are implemented in accordance with ethical core values of individual donors as well as donor organizations from Pakistan and other countries.

Donations are sought from local donors and international partners to complete these projects at the earliest. Donor can support these projects directly through online donations, bank transfers, personal donations or home collection of funds.

The high rate of unemployment is a major source of growing depression in the poverty-ridden society of Pakistan. In such a situation, a number of microﬁnance schemes are being run across the country. However, unlike most of such schemes, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan’s Mawakhat Program is based on the Islamic principle of Qarz-e-Hasna.

Under this program, the needy people are provided with interest-free loans to support their small businesses as well as to help them repay their debts. The people interested in Mawakhat Program approach local AKFP ofﬁcials through an application along with required documents, and upon due Diligence they receive the loan amount. The beneﬁciaries return the net loan amount to Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan within an agreed time period in the form of easy installments. Any sort of additional amount is not charged.

Pakistan is facing multifarious social problems in 21st century ranging from poverty to civic ignorance and malnourishment. The country stands at 145th position at Human Development Index (HDI) and almost 50% of Pakistan’s population is deprived of basic necessities. As per HDR report 27.1% Pakistanis live under severe poverty conditions.

Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has a vision of a stable Pakistani society and it is continuously striving to reach the people living in harsh conditions and provide them necessary assitance through its Community Services program.

The primary motto of the welfare program is to serve the deprived community by facilitating them through various interventions by local and international donors for meeting their pressing needs. These interventions are often related to weather conditions, festivals or special needs of the communities.

Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's mission is to serve humanity with integrity and without any discrimination and equal participation of women as they make around 50% of Pakistan’s population. That's why Alkhidmat Foundation Women Wing Trust was established in 2013. Female volunteers which were previously working under the banners of Alkhidmat Khwateen Trust and Alkhidmat Welfare Society in nine major cities of Pakistan expanded their relief work to 36 districts of four provinces and Azad Kashmir.

Women Wing is currently working in the ﬁelds of Orphan Care, Community Services, Education, Community Centers, Mawakhat (interest-free loans), Clean Water, Disaster Management and Marriage Assistance. The wing has a strong network of volunteers across Pakistan and it is a vital part of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan to fulﬁll its mission of service to humanity with integrity.

AT A GLANCE 2019 | 31 INAUGURATION OF THAR COMPLEX Thar has been among the most deprived districts of Pakistan. Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has been working for the people of Thar for many years in the ﬁeld of healthcare. Keeping in view the harsh conditions, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has devised a special vision for the region in the form of Thar Complex. Thar Complex, a 275-million-rupee project, consisting of a 50-bed hospital in Dist. Mitthi. The hospital also has a Solar-Powered Health Unit with all basic health facilities that can reach to the remotest area of the district. In the future, the project will be extended to include veterinary hospital, Aghosh Home, Diagnostic Center, Schools, Child Development Center, Ambulance Service and Residential Blocks while it’s currently offering facility for outdoor patients (OPD), Mother & Child Healthcare Center (MCHC), Dispensary and Ambulance facility. SENATOR SIRAJ UL HAQ AMEER JAMAT-E-ISLAMI PAKISTAN This is a matter of utmost seriousness that people of Tharparkar are deprived of even basic facilities of life in 21st century. They have to walk long distances to collect drinking water and healthcare facilities are mere a dream in this region. However, I am so happy and thankful to know that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has constructed a multi-purpose Alkhidmat Tharparkar Complex for these underprivileged people to provide a range of services such healthcare, clean water, diagnosis center, school and child development center. Provision of all these facilities in Tharparkar is nothing different from a dream becoming reality and I am happy that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is doing this welfare project with the support of common Pakistani people and the generous donors from overseas. I support their mission and I request everyone to become part of this mission and serve humanity with integrity. ALKHIDMAT YOUTH GATHERING 3.0 Volunteers Management Department of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan arranged 3rd Alkhidmat Youth Gathering with title “Khair-e-Kaseer”. More than 1200 young leaders, students, volunteers and youth ambassadors joined the event to learn and understand different aspects of leadership. Participants from leading institutions of Pakistan joined the gathering and enjoyed their learning experience. We believe that such events help in bridging the gaps between the youth and social norms and requirement.

Motivational speakers and public inﬂuencers shared their views on various topics. Panel Discussions, Motivational Sessions, Social Entrepreneurship Exhibition, Mushaira and Award Ceremony were the major events of the gathering. Young leaders also registered themselves as volunteers of Alkhidmat Foundation and resolved to volunteer their work for the cause of humanity. More events will be planned and executed in the coming future.

MUSHTAQ AHMED MANGAT VICE PRESIDENT With most of us leading super busy lives, the idea of volunteering – giving your time and energy to a cause without financial reward – may seem an impossible task. However, volunteering is important for many reasons and doesn't have to take up too much time. And, in fact, the benefits of volunteering are vast for the volunteer as well. Aristotle once said that the essence of life is “to serve others and do good,” and it seems an increasing number of us are starting to wake up and see why volunteering is important. Our Volunteer Management program is growing fast and we believe that this will multiply in near future. FUNDRAISING EVENTS Fundraising is always a big challenge for a Not for Profit Organization. In order to raise funds for the cause of humanity Alkhidmat Foundation ran a countrywide media and marketing campaign.

To create awareness about collective responsibility of society towards orphans and to raise funds, this campaign was aired through different electronic mediums. We engaged renowned poets, writers, sportsmen and other celebrities to ensure involvement of masses in these events. This year’s donor conferences and charity events also proved to be a great success where common members of the society donated for the cause.
