Prior to reporting the annual activities of the Sports Board for the year 2017-18, I took the opportunity to offer my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the Colleges, specially to the following colleges who rendered their kind help and constant support to the Sports Board by taking the responsibility of organizing the various Inter College Tournament for the year 2017- 18. Campus Taekwondo(M/W),Handball(M/W),Cricket(M)Zon al , Cross Country (M/W), Football (M) Final Round, Karate (M/W), Football (W) 15 Sibsagarh College Youth Festival 16 Kakojan College Football (M) Zonal 17 Khowang College Football (M) Zonal 18 Gargaon College Football (M)Zonal Round 19 Furkating College Football (M)Zonal Round 20 Dibrugarh District Sports Providing Jalan Outdoor Stadium for IC Cricket Association Tournament The Dibrugarh University Sports Board looks after the entire Games and Sports and Cultural activities of all affiliated Colleges to the Dibrugarh University especially conducting the various inter college tournaments and sending the team to participate in the National University Games and Sports.Apart from these the Board provides and maintains the sports facilities to the entire University communities within the University campus. During the session under report the Dibrugarh University renovating the Playground No. 1 and created four nos. Table Tennis Table. Page 2 of 40 The various activities of the Sports Board for the session under report were as appended bellow: Annual General Meeting of Dibrugarh University Sports Board: Annual General Meeting of Dibrugarh University Sports Board for the year 2017-18 was held on 22/06/2017 in “Chinton” the Conference Hall of Dibrugarh University. Action plan of the Board for the year 2017-18 was approved in the meeting. Intramural Recreational Sports Competition among Teacher, Officer, employees and Research Scholars in weekends day: Intramural Recreational Sports Competition among Teacher, Officer, Employees and Research Scholars was organized by Dibrugarh University Sports Board in collaboration with Research Scholar Association w.e.f. 11.08.2017 to 15.08.2017. Total 13 teams were participated. The Research Scholar team became the champion of the competition defeating School of Education team. The final match was played on 15.08.2017. MoU with Elite Universal Sports Alliance India Private Limited, An agrrement of MoU has been signed between Dibrugrh Univerity Sports Board and Elite Universal Sports Alliance India Private Limited on 22.02.2018. As per MoU the company will broadcast the sports events participated by Dibrugarh University in the various Inter University sports events. All India Inter University Guru Nanak Dev University w.e.f. 16.02.2018 to Taekwondo (Men) Tournament 28.02.2018 febuary. 2017-18 Inter College Football (Women) Tournament 2017-18: Inter College Football (Women) Tournament was organized by the Dibrugarh University in the University playground w.e.f. 24.08.2016 to 26.08.2016. Total 6 (Six) teams were participated and the matches were organized in League cum Knockout basis. Khowang College won the Championship and Pithubar Degree Girls College bagged the Runner Up. Dhoritri Oriya of Khowang College was adjusted as the Best player of the Final. In the opening ceremony present our Chief Guest Hon‟bal Vice- Chancellor Prof A.K.Buragohain and closing ceremony Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Studants Affairs, Dr. H. C. Mahanta, Controller of Examination, Dr. Binod Ch. Borah, Dy. Registrar, Academics, Principal, Khowang College, and Babul Gogoi Ex S.O.PF section are present and distribute the prizes. Page 4 of 40 Inter College Cross Country Race (Men/Women) 2017-18: Inter College Cross country Race (Men/Women) was organized at D. U. Campus on 29.08.2017. Total 10 Colleges were participated in the events. The result of the events are as Team Men 1st khowang College, 2nd Moridhal College, 3rd Jaya Gogoi College; Women Team: 1st P.G. ClassesD.U., 2nd Moridhal College, 3rd Joya Gogoi College. Inter College Football (Men) Tournament 2017-18: Inter College Football (Men) Tournament was organized w.e.f. 04.09.2017 to 13.09.2017 in various six zone i.e. Lakihmpur College, Sonari Comm.College, Duliajan College, Kakojan College, Furkating College and Khowang College. Total 48 teams were participated in the tournament. Nazira College and DDR College Chabua became the champion and Runner up respectively. Biplab Gogoi of DDR College, Chabua was declared as the Best Player of the final. Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Studetns Affairs, Prof. Mukut Hazarika, Dean School of Education, Dy. Registrar Administration, Dr. Binod Ch. Borah, Dy. Registrar, Academics, Principal, Nazira College, Mr. Pranab Baruah former Director of Sports, were present and distribute the prizes. Inter College Badminton (M/W) Competition 2017-18: Inter College Badminton (M/W) Competition was organized by the Duliajan College, Duliajan 18.09.2017 to 19.09.2017. Total 23 colleges were participated in the Tournament. Team (Men) Winner: Bir Lachit Borpukan College, Sivsagarh Runner Up – Sibsagarh Comm College, Sibsagarh. Team (Women) Winner: P.G.Classes, D.U. Runner-Up: H.P.B. Girl‟s College. Open Men Section Winner: Sri Krishanu Dahutia, P.G. Classes D.U. Runner up: Sri Nitish Bora, Sibsagarh Commerce College. Women Section: Winner: Daisy Chetia, HPB Girls College Runner up: Mayuri Phukan, P G Classes. City College w.e.f. 20.09.2017 and 21st Sept. 2017 respectively. 14 colleges were participated. Team (Men) Winner: J.B. College. (Jorhat) RUNNER Up – D.H.S.K. College (Dibrugarh) Team (Women) Winner: H.P.B. Girls College Runner-Up: P. G. Classes (D.U.). Open Men Section Winner: Sri Neelav Krishna Dutta J. B. College. Runner up: Sri Pallav Dutta D.H.S.K. The objective was to understand the aquifer system down to the depth of 200 meters, decipher the aquifer geometry, its characteristics, quantity, quality and formulate a complete sustainable and effective management plan for ground water development in the study area. A multi disciplinary approach of geology, geophysics, hydrology and chemistry was adopted to achieve the objectives of the study.And also with the help of Agricultural Scientists, a management plan was made. This report elaborates the different aquifer system prevailing in the study area, its characteristics and also provides the different scientific data which will help in proposing plans to achieve drinking water security, irrigation facilities etc through sustainable ground water development. The groundwater management plan was made with an emphasis in providing irrigation facilities through ground water development as agriculture is the main means of livelihood of the people in the district which covers about 60% of the total population.To use the groundwater for irrigation purpose, a cropping plan has been designed for the district by using CROPWAT model developed by FAO.
