Hon’ble President and Respected Members:

I on behalf of Sports Board welcome all of you in today‟s Annual General Meeting of the Sports Board, D.U. here I would like to present the Annual Report of the Dibrugarh University Sports Board for the year 2017-18.

Prior to reporting the annual activities of the Sports Board for the year 2017-18, I took the opportunity to offer my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the Colleges, specially to the following colleges who rendered their kind help and constant support to the Sports Board by taking the responsibility of organizing the various Inter College Tournament for the year 2017- 18. The Dibrugarh University Sports Board looks after the entire Games and Sports and Cultural activities of all affiliated Colleges to the Dibrugarh University especially conducting the various inter college tournaments and sending the team to participate in the National University Games and Sports.Apart from these the Board provides and maintains the sports facilities to the entire University communities within the University campus. During the session under report the Dibrugarh University renovating the Playground No. 1 and created four nos. Table Tennis Table. Page 2 of 40

Annual General Meeting of Dibrugarh University Sports Board:

Annual General Meeting of Dibrugarh University Sports Board for the year 2017-18 was held on 22/06/2017 in “Chinton” the Conference Hall of Dibrugarh University. Action plan of the Board for the year 2017-18 was approved in the meeting.

Intramural Recreational Sports Competition among Teacher, Officer, employees and Research Scholars in weekends day:

Intramural Recreational Sports Competition among Teacher, Officer, Employees and Research Scholars was organized by Dibrugarh University Sports Board in collaboration with Research Scholar Association w.e.f. 11.08.2017 to 15.08.2017. Total 13 teams were participated. The Research Scholar team became the champion of the competition defeating School of Education team. The final match was played on 15.08.2017.

MoU with Elite Universal Sports Alliance Private Limited, An agrrement of MoU has been signed between Dibrugrh Univerity Sports Board and Elite Universal Sports Alliance India Private Limited on 22.02.2018. As per MoU the company will broadcast the sports events participated by Dibrugarh University in the various Inter University sports events.

Inter College Football (Women) Tournament 2017-18:

Inter College Football (Women) Tournament was organized by the Dibrugarh University in the University playground w.e.f. 24.08.2016 to 26.08.2016. Total 6 (Six) teams were participated and the matches were organized in League cum Knockout basis. Khowang College won the Championship and Pithubar Degree Girls College bagged the Runner Up. Dhoritri Oriya of Khowang College was adjusted as the Best player of the Final. In the opening ceremony present our Chief Guest Hon‟bal Vice- Chancellor Prof A.K.Buragohain and closing ceremony Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Studants Affairs, Dr. H. C. Mahanta, Controller of Examination, Dr. Binod Ch. Borah, Dy. Registrar, Academics, Principal, Khowang College, and Babul Gogoi Ex S.O.PF section are present and distribute the prizes.

Inter College Cross Country Race (Men/Women) 2017-18:

Inter College Cross country Race (Men/Women) was organized at D. U. Campus on 29.08.2017. Total 10 Colleges were participated in the events. The result of the events are as Team Men 1st khowang College, 2nd Moridhal College, 3rd Jaya Gogoi College; Women Team: 1st P.G. ClassesD.U., 2nd Moridhal College, 3rd Joya Gogoi College.

Inter College Football (Men) Tournament 2017-18:

Inter College Football (Men) Tournament was organized w.e.f. 04.09.2017 to 13.09.2017 in various six zone i.e. Lakihmpur College, Sonari Comm.College, Duliajan College, Kakojan College, Furkating College and Khowang College. Total 48 teams were participated in the tournament. Nazira College and DDR College Chabua became the champion and Runner up respectively. Biplab Gogoi of DDR College, Chabua was declared as the Best Player of the final. Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Studetns Affairs, Prof. Mukut Hazarika, Dean School of Education, Dy. Registrar Administration, Dr. Binod Ch. Borah, Dy. Registrar, Academics, Principal, Nazira College, Mr. Pranab Baruah former Director of Sports, were present and distribute the prizes.

Inter College Badminton (M/W) Competition 2017-18:

Inter College Badminton (M/W) Competition was organized by the Duliajan College, Duliajan 18.09.2017 to 19.09.2017. Total 23 colleges were participated in the Tournament. Team (Men) Winner: Bir Lachit Borpukan College, Sivsagarh Runner Up – Sibsagarh Comm College, Sibsagarh. Team (Women) Winner: P.G.Classes, D.U. Runner-Up: H.P.B. Girl‟s College. Inter College Table Tennis (M/W) competition were organized by N.L.B. City College w.e.f. 20.09.2017 and 21st Sept. 2017 respectively. 14 colleges were participated. Team (Men) Winner: J.B. College. (Jorhat) RUNNER Up – D.H.S.K. College (Dibrugarh) Team (Women) Winner: H.P.B. Girls College Runner-Up: P. G. Classes (D.U.). Open Men Section Winner: Sri Neelav Krishna Dutta J. B. College. Inter College Chess (M/W) Tournament 2017-18:

Inter College Chess (M/W) Tournament was organized by D.H.S.K. College on 23rd & 24th September 2017. Total 11 Colleges were participated in the Championship.

Inter College Volleyball (M/W) Tournament 2017-18:

Inter College Volleyball (M/W) was organized by D.R. College, Golaghat on 20th and 21th October 2017. Total 23 Colleges were participated in the Championship. Team Champion (Men): P. G. Classes, D.U. Runner-Up: Madhabdev College, Narayanpur. Best Spiker (Men): Sri Juman Kalita P.G. Classes, D.U. Best Setter (Men): Sri Manash Baroi, Madhabdev College. Team Champion (Women): , Dhemaji. Runner-Up: , Best Player (Women) Miss Pankhi Bharali, North Bank College.

Inter College Taekondo (m/w) Tournament 2017-18:

Inter College Taekwondo (M/W) was organized by Dibrugarh University Campus on 23rd to 24th October 2017. Total 32 College participated. Best fighter (Men) Anamitra Gogoi, (Cinamara College); Best Fighter (Women) Sonali Bora.

Inter College Weight Lifting (M/W), Power lifting (M/W) and Best Physique Tournament 2017-18

The event was organized at Sarupathar College, Golaghat on 11th and 12th December 2017. Total 27 Colleges Participated. Best lifter (Men) Sri Tirdip Baruah S.P.P. College ; Best Lifter (Women) Miss Popy Hazarika Golaghat Commerce College; Strong Men Sri Sri Subham Ghosh D.H.S.K. College; Strong Women Miss Nirjara Owary Sarupather College, Mr. Dibrugarh University 2017-18 Sri Mustak Ahmed J.B. College.

Inter College Kabaddi (M/W) Tournament 2017-18

The tournament was organized at SubansiriCollege, Lakhimpur on 23rd and 24th December 2017. Total 28 Colleges were participated in the event. Team Champion (Men) . Runner-Up: Bir Lachit Borphukan College Team Champion (Women): Borhat B.P.B.Memorial College, Borhat. Runner-Up: Subansiri College.

Inter College Cricket (Men) Tournament 2017-18:

The Inter College Men Cricket Tournament of Dibrugarh University for the year 2017-18 was organized from 28.12.2017 December 2017 to 07.01.2018 January 2018 in various six zones. The Final round was held at Dibrugarh University Playground from 30th January to 02.02.2018 Febuary. Total 42 Colleges were participated in the event. Winner: J.B. College, Jorhat; Runner Up; C.K.B. College. Men of the Match: Sri Nilutpal Dutta; J. B. College, Men of the Series: Sri Mahammad Kaif J. B.College.

Inter College Karate (M/W) Tournament 2017-18

The event was organized at D.U. Campus on 5th & 6th January 2018. Total 17 College were participated in the event; Best Karate Player (Male): Sri Tarun Konwar, Sonari College, Best Karate player (Female): Miss Tribedi Dutta, Lahoal College.

Inter College Youth Festival: 2017-18

The Inter College Youth Festival was organized at Sibsagarh College w.e.f. 18th to 20th January 2018. Total 68 Colleges were participated in the event. Miss Nibedita Baishya, P.G. Classes, D.U. declared as the Best Singer and Sibsagarh College became the Best Team.

Inter College Hand Ball (M/W) Tournament 2017-18

The event was organized at Dibrugarh University Campus on 24th to 25th January 2018. Total Men Team: 7, Women Team: 5 teams were participated in the event. Team Champion (Men) Lakhimpur College, Lakhimpur. Runner-Up:P.G. Classes, D.U, Best Player: Chitrajyoti Medak, N.L.College Team Champion (Women) Doom-Dooma College, Doom Dooma. Runner-Up : P.G. Classes, D.U.;

Inter College Athletic Meet: 2016-17

The Inter College Athletic Meet was organized at JDSG College w.e.f. 28th to 30th January 2018. Best Disipline College of the event: DDR College, Chabua. Best Long Distance Runner (Men); Bipul Satnami, ; Best Long Distance Runner (Women); Robina Lagachu, Moridhal College; Best Jumper (Men); Pinku Baruah North Lakhimpur College; Best Sprinter (Men); Abhilash Borthakur J.B. College; Best Sprinter (Women); Anamika Chutia, Khowang College; Best Team (Men) : North Lakhimpur College; Best Team (Women): Khowang College.

Inter College Yoga (M/W) Tournament 2017-18

The Inter College Yoga (M/W) Tournament 2017-18 was Organized at to Lakhimpur Girl‟ College, and scheduled to be held on 5th Febuary 2018. Total 9 Colleges were participated in the event. Results: Men Category: 1st: Bikash Bora, Bir Lachit Borphukan College 2nd: Dimpal Page 9 of 40

Inter College Boxing Tournament (M/W):2017-18

Inter College Boxing (M/W) was organized by Margherita College on 13th &14th Febuary 2018. Total 26 Colleges were participated in the Championship. Best Boxer ( Men ) : Sri Ban Gogoi, ( Lahoal College ) Best Boxer (Women ) : Miss Pragyapriya Boruah ( Moran Mohila Mohavidyalaya ), & Best Team in the event Magherita College.

Inter College Kho-Kho (M/W) Tournament 2017-18

The event was organized at D.H.S.K. College on 26th & 27th March 2018. Total Men team 7 ,and Women team 4 were participated in the event; Team Champion (Men) , Tengakhat. Runner-Up: D.H.S.K. College, Best Player: Sri Pintu Chutia, Tengakhat College. Team Champion (Women) Tengakhat College, Runner-Up: H.P.B.Girls‟ College, Best Player: Miss Namrata Sonowal, Tengakhat College.

ORGANIZATION OF EAST ZONE AND ALL INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY WOMEN TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2017-18 (DATE: 20TH TO 22ND FEBRUARY 2018 AND 25TH TO 27TH FEBRUARY 2018)

The East Zone Inter University Table Tennis women tournament 2017-18 was organized by Dibrugarh University Sports Board under the auspices of Association of Indian Universities from 20.02.2018 to 22.02.2018. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Mukut Hazarika, Dean School of Education, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs and Dr. Mantu Baro, Organizing Secretary and Director of Sports i/c hoisted the AIU Flag, Dibrugarh University Flag and Dibrugarh University sports Board Flag respectively. In the opening ceremony Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University, Prof. Mukut Hazarika, Dean School of Education, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affair, Mr. Manindra Nath Saikia, Secretary, DDSA, DR. Devaballabh Rajkhowa were grace the occion. Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain, Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University delver the inaugural speech and Dr. Mantu Baro deliver the welcome address. Dr. Jiturajan Chetia offer vote of thanks. Total 16 universities including Host University participated in the tournament. University Calcutta and Rabindra Bharati University bagged the first and second position respectively and University of North Bengal and Jadavpur University baged third and fourth place respectively. Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affair, Prof. Pallabi Deka Buzarboruah, Mr. Anjan Chetia and Dr. Mantu Baro gave away the prizes. Dr. Mantu Baro, Organizing Secretary of the Tournament offer vote of thanks. Mr. Rajdeep Bhuyan, Dibrugarh, Mr. Gavinda Upadhaya, Guwahati and Mr. Biman Bhagawati, Sibsagar were acted as Technical officials of the tournament.

The All India Inter University Table Tennis (Women) Tournament 2017-18 was organized from 25.02.2018 to 27.02.2018 at Dibrugarh University by Dibrugarh University Sports Board under the auspices of Association of Indian Universities. The openning ceremony of this event was held at Bhimbor Deori Indoor Stadium on 25.02.2018 at 10:30 AM. Proffessor P.K.Boruah, Dean Reaserach and Development &, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean Stuents affairs, Munindra Nath Saikia, Secretary, Dibrugarh District Sports Association, Zamsed Ahmed Khan, President, Dibrugarh District Sports Association, Prof. J.P.saikia, Department of Sociology, Prof. Pallavi Deka Buzar Boruah Dept of assamese, Dr Mantu Baro, Organizing Secretary of this tournament and Director of Sports(i/c) present in the occasion. 27 Managers and Coaches from different participating Universities were present and they were also felicitated by the organizing university. Prof. Jiten Hazarika delivered welcome addresses where as Prof. P.K. Boruah, formally inaugurated the tournament. Dr Jituranjan Chetia, Asstt. Secretary of Dibrugarh University Sports board offered vote of thanks. Total 14 universities i.e. Osmania University, University of Madras, SRM University, University of Calicut, Savitri Phule Pune University, University of Rajasthan, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, University of Delhi, Punjabi University, Patiala, Lucknow University, Lucknow, University of Calcutta, Rabindra Bharati University, North Bengal University and Jadavpur University were participated in the tournament. Osmania University became the champion of the team and University of Madras becomes runner up whereas SRM University and University of North Bengal got the 3rd and 4th position respectively. In the closing cum prize distribution ceremony, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Surajit Borkotokey Dept. of Mathematics, Dr. Binud Ch. Borah, Deputy Registrar Academics, Dr. Devid Kardong and other dignitaries were present and gave away the Page 11 of 40 prizes. Dr. Mantu Baro, Organizing Secretary and Director of Sports i/c, Dibrugarh University offer vote of thanks. AIU Observer was not present during the tournament.

PARTICIPATION IN INTER UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENTS:

The Dibrugarh University participated in the East Zone Inter University Table Tennis (M) Badminton (M/W), East Zone and All India Inter University Youth Festival, All India Inter University Judo (Men), East Zone Inter University Cricket (Men), East Zone Inter University Football (Men), All India Inter University Athletics Championship, All India Inter University Taekwondo (M/W) Tournaments Organized by various Universities under the aeigies of Association with Association of Indian Universities.

Dibrugarh University Badminton Men and Women Team participated in the East Zone and All India Inter University Badminton Tournament 2017-18:

The Dibrugarh University Badminton (Men/women) team participated in the East Zone and All India Inter University Tournament held at KIIT University Bhubaneswar w.e.f. 01.10.2017 to 04.10.2017 and 5th to 9th January 2018 respectively. Women team became the East Zone Champion and Men team got 4th Place and qualified for the All India tournament. The men team members were Sri Nitish Bora (Sibsagar Com), Sri Krishanu Dohutia (PG Classes), Mreedu Pawan Tamuli (BLB College), Sri Sarbartha Gupta (DHSK Com) Sri Abhinab Gogoi (), Women: Miss Daisy Chetia (HPB Girls College), Miss Borakha Sonowal, Miss Mayuri Phukan (PG Classes), Miss Ankita Gogoi (Tinsukia College). Mr. Sumit Kr. Thapa Assistant Profeesor and Mr. Phupen Phukan were the manager and coach of the team for East Zone and Mr. Sumit Kr. Thapa and Ms. Mridusmita Phukan were the manager and coach of the team for All India. Page 12 of 40

Dibrugarh University Football Team (M) was participated in the East Zone Inter University Football Tournament 2017-18 held at R.G. University, 27.11.2017 to 03.12.2017 The team was Bhaskarjya Saikia(Gargaon College);Kesab Das & Nitul Sonowal (Khowang College); Imanuel Malswmlien & Hirakjyoti Moran (NLB City College); Mahendre Moran; Manash Pratim Chetia; Suman Gogoi (GK); Rahul Phukan; Tinku Baglari; (Nazira College): Tulan sonowal & Rahul Singh (GK) (NL College) Prince Hussain; Ankur Das & Nilutpal Saikia (P.G.Classes D.U.); Bikash Gurung & Apurba Daw (DR College); Pranjyoti Chutia(Tinsukia College); Vishal Hazarika (Duliajan College) Raktim Gogoi (Khowang College). Dr. O. Jiten Singh, Associate Professor of Physical Education and Mr. Birojananda Dowarah were accompanied the team as manager anc coach.

Participated in All India Inter University Athletics Championship Tournament 2017-18

The team war participated in All India Inter University Athletics (Men) tournament 2017-18 held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh w.e.f. 12th to 16th December 2017. The list of selected players is; Abhilash Borthakur( J.B. College); Tinkul Sonowal (N L College); Jugesh Das (N L College); Pinku Baruah (N L College); Arpan Darpan (JDSG College); And Madhrjya Saikia (Tengakhat College). Mr Pranjit Baruah, Assistant Professor of CESPES was the Prof-in-Charge of the Team.

Dibrugarh University cricket Team (Men) participated in the East Zone Inter University Cricket Tournament 2017-18 held w.e.f 21.12.2017 to 03.01.2018 January at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. Mr. Utpal Deka, Asst. Professor, Naharkatia College was accompany the team as Manager cum Coach of the Team. Players were Mihir Gowala; Sunil Lachit;( NLB City College), Mrinmoy Dutta (Sibsagarh College), Arindom Boruah (D.H.S.K. East Zone Inter University Table Tennis Men/Women Tournament 2017-18:

All India & East Zone Inter University Youth Festival 2017-18:

Dibrugarh University Sports Board participated in the East Zone and All India National Inter University Youth Festival 2017-18 held at Gauhati University and Ranchi University, w.e.f. 05.01.2018 to 09.01.2018 and 16.02.2018 to 20.02.2018 respectively. In East Zone baged Fisrt Prize in Drama, Second in Instrumental non percussion (Flute) and 4th Place in Folk Orchestra. In All India Dibrugarh Unviersity bagged 3rd in Dram and Instrumental Non Percussion (Flute). Dibrugarh University Sports Board extends all possible helps and cooperation to organize various sports activities within the campus including the Annual „Varsity Week of the Post Graduate Union D.U., Annual School Week of D.U. Model School, Employees Sports etc. Further, the Sports Board also extends its helps and co-operation to District Sports Office, Dibrugarh District Sports Association and other Sports organizations as and when required.

D.U. Sports Board also provides various Sports facilities (Indoor & Outdoor) available under Sports Board to the University Students, Teachers, Officers, Employees and their wards through Sports Management Committee, D.U.
