WATERFRONT GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES Club Rule WATERFRONT GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES Club Rule (Mt. Woodson) There are no out of bounds or lost balls when we play Mt. Woodson. Play any lost ball or out of bounds ball as ball lost in penalty area. Drop forward with one stroke penalty when the area lies between the tee box and the fairway. Club Rule (Boulder Oaks) All desert areas have been designated penalty areas (regardless of what it might say on the scorecard). The player has the option to play his/her ball as it lies in the desert area or take relief using the point the ball crossed into the desert area and a point one club length (longest club not your putter) no nearer the hole to drop and play from with 1 penalty stroke added. Example – Tee shot enters desert area and comes to rest in a location the player does not wish to play from. Relief is taken from the point the ball crossed into the desert area and the player is now playing their third shot (Stroke 1 in penalty area, drop is stroke 2, hit stroke 3) Club Rule (Alternative to Stroke & Distance) A new Local Rule will provide golfers with an alternative to stroke-and-distance relief for balls that are lost outside a penalty area or out of bounds. Stroke-and-distance relief will still be available (provisional shots are encouraged if in doubt) but it’s not the only option now. For a penalty of two strokes you can drop and not return to the position the original shot was played from. First, figure out where your ball went out of bounds or is likely to be lost. Then, find the nearest fairway edge. Lastly, drop your ball in a relief area between the two points defined above (Relief in the fairway is not allowed) Club Rule (Bunkers) Because of the substandard conditions found at many of the courses we play all bunkers are now deemed by the club to be penalty areas but still maintain the existing rules for grounding your club in a bunker. Should the player determine the lie of their ball and/or condition of the bunker creates a shot they do NOT wish to play they may now drop the ball using the point which their ball crossed into the bunker and a point one club length (longest club not your putter) no nearer the hole to drop and play from with 1 penalty stroke added understanding that point may place the same bunker between them and the hole for their next shot. Presidents Cup Competition Because we have been struggling to field enough players to hold our annual Presidents Cup competition, we are altering the competition to the following format: Qualifying will take place over two consecutive weeks of normal tournament play where the 8 lowest net scores will be given the option to enter the Presidents Cup. If a member who qualifies can not commit to making themselves available to play in the competition the next lowest net score will be advanced into a qualifying position. Once the 8 qualifying players have been established the field will be broken into two flights based on handicap. 4 players in the low handicap flight and 4 players in the high handicap flight. Round Robin play will take place over the next several Waterfront golf club regularly scheduled tournaments or outside of the official club tournaments if opposing players agree to meet on their own. During round robin play each player will compete against all other players in their flight totaling 3 matches. All matches will be played until a winner is determined (no ties) with one point going to the winner of the match and no points to the loser. There is no change to how match handicaps are determined. Once round robin play is concluded the top point earners from each flight will face off to determine the winner of the Presidents Cup while the 2nd place point earners from each flight will compete for 3rd and 4th place. If there is a tie for the top point earner during round robin play the head to head round robin match between the two players will determine who is the winner of that flight. .

  • Two-Time U.S. Open Winner Retief Goosen to Make PGA TOUR Champions Debut at Oasis Championship
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Two-Time U.S. Open Winner Retief Goosen To Make PGA TOUR Champions Debut At Oasis Championship BOCA RATON, Florida – Retief Goosen always had a sense of good timing. His ability to produce clutch shots at key moments helped him win a pair of U.S. Opens and earn induction into this year’s World Golf Hall of Fame class. Goosen also is fortunate he turns 50 on Sunday, just in time for the South African to become eligible for the PGA TOUR Champions’ first full-field event. Goosen will make his debut at next week’s Oasis Championship at The Old Course at Broken Sound. “I know I’m going to have a blast,” Goosen said. “I’ve been thinking about playing on this tour for a long time.” The Oasis Championship also received commitments from former British Open champions Darren Clarke and Tom Lehman, who won the PGA TOUR Champions’ season-opening event in Hawaii for his 12th career win on the 50-and-older circuit. Lehman won the 1996 British Open and captured the 2011 Oasis Championship at Broken Sound. Goosen has won 33 worldwide events – seven on the PGA TOUR -- and spent more than 260 weeks in the top 100 in the world rankings from 2001-07, reaching as high as No. 3 in 2006. He played in six Presidents Cup competitions for the International Team and would have won more had he not battled chronic back problems that are a thing of the past. Goosen is still basking in last year’s announcement he would be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame the week of the U.S.

New ERC Fusion Driver Wins Again to Give Callaway Golf Drivers a 1-2 Finish at Season-Ending LPGA Tour ADT Championship CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 2003--The new ERC(R) Fusion(R) Driver from Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) posted another big win yesterday. The winner of the ADT Championship used the hot new club in her one-stroke victory over Annika Sorenstam, giving the ERC Fusion Driver a 1-2 finish at the final LPGA Tour event of the season. This latest ERC Fusion victory comes shortly after Jim Thorpe won the Champions Tour season finale with an ERC Fusion Driver. The winner of the ADT Championship recently switched from a Great Big Bertha(R) II Titanium Driver to an ERC Fusion Driver. Her extraordinarily accurate driving helped her birdie five of the closing nine holes yesterday at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. The victory is the ninth for the ERC Fusion Driver across the world's six major professional tours since the driver was introduced to tour players. The innovative driver -- which combines a forged titanium cup-face area with a precision-weighted composite body to produce explosive performance -- will ship to selected retailers and golf shops next month. Sorenstam used the ERC Fusion Driver in two of her LPGA Tour-leading six victories this season, including her runaway victory at the Mizuno Classic two weeks ago. She overcame an eye infection to finish second at the ADT Championship and claim her sixth Rolex Player of the Year Award. Sorenstam finished the season as the LPGA Tour leader in money won ($2,029,506), scoring average (69.02), driving distance (269.7), greens in regulation (75.5 percent), percentage of rounds under par (76.7 percent) and percentage of top-10 finishes (88.2 percent) -- all while using Callaway Golf(R) clubs and balls.
