The EFL University continues to build upon the achievements of the CIEFL, and expand its activities on the national and global stage. Its mandate is to advance and disseminate “instructional, research, and extension facilities in the teaching of English and Foreign Languages and Literatures in India” as well as “to take appropriate measures for inter-disciplinary studies and research in Literary and Cultural Studies, and to develop critical inter-cultural understanding of civilizations”. The EFL University has three campuses: the main campus is in Hyderabad, while the other two are in Lucknow and Shillong. The objectives of the university are to bring quality education in the disciplines and sub disciplines of English and Foreign Languages within the reach of all Indians. The objectives of the University as stated in Act, 2006 (No.7 of 2007) are: to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional, research, and extension facilities in the teaching of English and foreign languages and literature in India; to train language teachers in methods and approaches appropriate to the Indian context; to provide expertise in language and teacher education to foreign professionals; to evolve indigenous ways of testing language proficiency; to make provisions for innovative teaching-learning materials in both print and electronic media; to take appropriate measures for inter-disciplinary studies and research in literary and cultural studies, and to develop critical intercultural understanding of the civilizations. 4 The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC All NAAC accredited institutions will submit an annual self-reviewed progress report to NAAC, through its IQAC. The report is to detail the tangible results achieved in key areas, specifically identified by the institutional IQAC at the beginning of the academic year. The AQAR will detail the results of the perspective plan worked out by the IQAC. (Note: The AQAR period would be the Academic Year. It acquires new dimensions of beauty, elegance and modernity with its gorgeous and splen­ did constructions, arches, designs, pillars of various dImensions, domes etc. Foundation stone for this new Legislature Building was laid by the then Chief Minister, Dr. M. Chenna Reddy on 19th March, 1980. The archilecture adopted for the exterior devation to the new building is the same as that of the old building, leaving no scope for differentiation between the two building~. The provision of detached round long columns under the arches add more beauty to the building. The building contains modern amenities such as air-connitioning, interior decoration and reinforced sound system. There is a provision for the use of modc:rn sophisticated electronic equipment for providing audio-system.

Ethnographic accounts of their experiences invariably discuss how over time one builds credibility, trust, and acceptance among respondents. Applying this evidence and logic I proceeded to conduct ethnography in urban spaces, which are cosmopolitan and have ushered in modernity. My identity in the field mattered to respondents; to either reveal or conceal information. These were multiple identities, at times, journalist, agent of the government, nativity, and caste. Several complications arose due to researcher’s caste identity. Unlike identities of profession, class, race, belonging, gender, language, and such, the identity of caste hindered ethnographic work. There was continued resistance and non-cooperation from respondents. I contend that one opens up spaces of advancement by being reflexive and understanding nature of embodiment. Key Words: Caste, Embodiment, Ethnography, Reflexivity, Urban Introduction In the year 2013 I decided to study the relationship between people and lakes in order to understand the process and causes of rapid degradation and decline in the number of lakes in the city of Hyderabad. After reviewing literature I found that most authors have offered conventional explanations and statistics that gave a broad picture of the nature and acuteness of the problem, and the solution(s) relied mostly on technology and finance.
