HAALAND, CORI BUSH, AND NEBRASKA DEMOCRATS Signature Drink Recipes CHEERS TO NEBRASKA DEMOCRATS THE JOMAHA BLUE DOT Joe Biden and Omaha come together for a strong drink for us strong Dems. This drink is not for anyone filled with a bunch of malarkey. We are all about securing the “Blue Dot” of NE2 for Biden, Harris and Kara Eastman! • 8 mint leaves • 1 ounce of Blue Curacao • ½ lemon cut into 4 pieces • 1 cup of crushed • 1 Tablespoon sugar or cube ice • 2 ounces of Nebraska-made whiskey (Brickway or CutSpike are our favs) First place the mint, lemon, and sugar in the cup. Muddle (you can use the end of a wooden spoon) together until the sugar has dissolved and the lemon juice is in the cup. Next, add the whiskey and Blue Curacao. Then add in the ice. If you are fancy, you can top with a mint leaf! THE KAMALNK BLUE PACMAN A nod to Kamala Harris and securing the seat for Kate Bolz and the electoral vote of NE1 which includes lots of great smaller towns and the blue hub of Lincoln. We created a non-alcoholic drink with a Nebraska heritage for Dems of all ages. • 1 cup of Blue Raspberry • 1 cup of Sprite (or any bubbly Lemonade Kool-Aid drink flavor of your choice) (invented in Hastings, • 1 cup of crushed or cube ice Oh-Yeah) ALL WE NEED IS LOVE We are confronting the Republican politics of meanness and hatred with LOVE. Preston Love is our write-in candidate for U.S. Senate and this drink celebrates Love and his legacy of social justice work in our state. The “All We Need is Love” is as American as apple pie and the recipe makes a full pitcher since it is going to take all of us to heal the soul of our nation. • 6 cups apple cider (you know • Rosemary sprigs, around 6 Nebraska grows apples and • Golden brown sugar for rimming makes really yummy cider!) • OPTIONAL: Vodka if you want to add a “spike” • 1/2 cup caramel syrup (Preston was a Husker football player, so if you want • 3 cups sparkling water to spike your drink, add in some vodka, Titos is a • 2 tsp cinnamon favorite of Black Caucus Chair Precious McKesson) • 2 apples First cut the apples into thin slices and add them to your pitcher. Next pour in the apple cider with the caramel syrup. Add in the cinnamon and the rosemary sprigs. Let this goodness all rest together for 20 minutes. Then, pour in the sparkling water into the pitcher. Give everything a good mix. If you are really fancy, you can use the golden brown sugar to rim your glasses. You can also add in a shot of vodka to each glass if you want a little “spike.” AT HOME WITH SEN. WARREN, REP. Transcript Prepared by Clerk of the Legislature Transcribers Office Judiciary Committee January 23, 2020 LATHROP: Good afternoon, good afternoon, I think we're gonna get underway. My name is Steve Lathrop. I represent Legislative District 12 in Omaha and I'm the Chair of the Judiciary Committee. If you meant to be at the Judiciary Committee, you're at the right place. If not, then you have an opportunity to find the right hearing room. On the table inside the doors, you will find yellow testifier sheets. If you are planning on testifying today, please fill out one and hand it to the page when you come up to testify. There is also a white sheet on the table if you do not wish to testify, but wish to-- but, but would like to record your position on a bill. For future reference-- I'm gonna say this now, they're having trouble-- we got a new sound system and we don't have sound panels. So we have to have people not talk unless you're speaking or at the mike because we're having trouble recording these hearings. So if you don't mind, avoid talk while people are testifying. For future reference, if you're not testifying in person and would like to submit a letter for the record, all committees have a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on the last work day before the hearing. Keep in mind that you may submit a letter for the record or testify in person at the hearing, but not both.

  • April 15, 2020 the Honorable Deb Fischer the Honorable Ben Sasse
April 15, 2020 The Honorable Deb Fischer The Honorable Ben Sasse The Honorable Adrian Smith The Honorable Jeff Fortenberry The Honorable Don Bacon Dear Members of the Nebraska Congressional Delegation, Health care is the focus of the nation and of Nebraskans during these difficult times. Today we write to request your advocacy to the Trump Administration to re-open the Affordable Care Act Marketplace to provide access to health care for uninsured and underinsured Nebraskans. Nebraskans need immediate help. We are facing a record surge in unemployment. The administration must reopen the Affordable Care Act enrollment period to ensure that everyone who needs it has access to health insurance. The American Association of Health Insurance Plans and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association have advocated for this change to cover more Americans. The administration has reopened the marketplace in the past in response to natural disasters and should do so now. Nebraskans who buy their own insurance must purchase a policy during the regular open enrollment period in the fall. If they do not buy a plan and do not qualify for a special enrollment period, they cannot obtain health insurance from the exchange until the next open enrollment. The marketplace should be reopened to help people without insurance and those with short-term health insurance that does not offer comprehensive benefits. Other states, such as Maryland and Washington saw thousands of applications from people seeking health insurance coverage after opening their state marketplace. Please urge the Trump Administration to reopen the Affordable Care Act Marketplace so that Nebraskans seeking health insurance during the global coronavirus pandemic may access the health care they need.
