Another bump in the road. This time caused by Boris delaying full opening up of the country until 19th July. Sadly, this has had a knock-on effect on some indoor Craft Beer festivals and Hop City in Leeds is now postponed until 6-7th August. However, you can keep supporting the industry by drinking plenty of Craft Beer in local Tap Rooms and by going along to any festivals which have not postponed and are braving the weather.

There is talk in high places about a vaccine passport to allow those with two jabs to be able to travel abroad without quarantine restrictions. If this happens we hope to relauch our Grand Beer Tours later in the year. Don’t forget to keep checking the promotional pages in our Newsletters for details, and hopefully we’ll see you on one of our awesome trips.

Little Monster Brewing Co. Drift 4.2% Summer Pale A fresh sessionable summer pale, brewed with Cashmere, Simcoe and Nelson. An easy drinking pale, packed full of summer sunshine goodness.

Atom Beers Inclination 6% IPA A full bodied and luscious IPA jammed full of Idaho 7 hops. Sticky tropical fruit dominates and is backed up by red grapefruit, tangy apricot, papaya and Rakau.

Salopian Brewery Illuminance 5.4% DDH IPA An IPA full of Mosaic and perfect to savour on a long summer’s evening. A frosty cantaloupe orange gushing with fluffy tropical fruits, whispers of dank pine and cushioned notes of toasted crackers. A scintilla of bitterness is intertwined into a web of mango and papaya.

North Brewing Co. The Eighth Chamber 7% West Coast IPA A malt backbone from Caramalt and extra pale creates a slightly sweet clean biscuit base. Fresh Centennial hops added throughout the duration of the boil, whirlpool and in the dry hop make for a classic American IPA, bitter and laden with fruity esters, gorgeous zesty grapefruit, aromatic pine, sticky resin and dancing floral aroma.

Turning Point Brew Co. The Edge Is Fine 6.5% IPA This juicy bag of fresh hops is so easy to drink and light, whilst also having heaps of aroma and flavour from its God-tier hop combination of Simcoe, Citra and Loral. Think pineapple and peach, with a hint of lemon.

Drop Project Turtleneck & Chain 5% Belgian IPA Collab⁠ with Rivington Brewing Co. An IPA with a continental twist, showcasing new world hops Amarillo, Azacca & Mosaic. Using a Belgian yeast strain to give this beer a Saison crossover with ester characteristics, boasting bubble-gum, banana and notes of peppercorn and balanced with that big, dank finish.

Yonder Brewing & Blending Peach Peng 6% Sour Peach Peng is a smoothie-like fruit sour with lashings of fresh peach and a delicate undertone of green tea bitterness.

4 Yonder Brewing & Blending Joy 5% Fruited Sour A triple-fruited Summer Berry Sour, packed with bundles of fresh summer berries including Raspberry, Blackcurrant and Strawberry.

Unity Brewing Co. Fuzz Pedal 4.8% American Amber An old school American Amber, super easy drinking with a hefty malt backbone. Expect a load of caramel character supported by just enough bitterness from the classic US hop blend.

Unity Brewing Co. Oscillate #5 6.2% IPA Soft and juicy, loaded with oats three ways and plenty of tropical fruit character. Hopped⁠ with Mosaic, Bru-1 and Azacca.

Wylam Brewery Volume Is For Amplifiers 4.8% Pale Ale Hopped with Eclipse. Cushioned with wheat then spiked with rye, discharging sassy sweet mandarin orange, resinous fresh pine needles and spiffy citrus peel, all softened down with a sultry tropical dankness.

Verdant Brewing Co. Big If 8% DIPA A golden yellow DIPA with heaps of dank grapefruit, pine needles and mango supported and amplified by judicial notes of sherbet lemons and fleshy oranges.

Northern Monk OFSO41 5.6% Sour A Chilli, Lime and Mango sour. A full, rounded sour, with added a kick of tajin spice, and finished with a squeeze of lime for a real taste of Mexico.

Northern Monk 23.03 Homebrew Heroes 2021 // Within And Without 8% Raspberry & Hibiscus DIPA Raspberry, Hibiscus, Cinnamon and Vanilla DIPA. Hibiscus is infused at multiple stages through the brew, and then 200g/l of Raspberry puree was added towards the back end of fermentation before conditioning on cinnamon and vanilla.

Padstow Brewing Co. George’s Kveik 6.2% IPA This soft, fruity Kveik IPA has a balanced yeast character matched by carefully selected new world hop varieties.

Polly’s Brew Co. Hi, Everything’s Great 8% DIPA This beer uses seven different hop varietals in equal measure, with a medley of in- house favourites Simcoe, Mosaic, Enigma, El Dorado, Ekuanot, Citra and Columbus combining to create a Frankenstein's monster mega haze-bomb, maxed out, juicy DIPA. Expect to find tangerine, pineapple, papaya, and jelly tot notes, backed up with just a hint of grassy bitterness and herbal complexity to boot.

Q. What's this about Members getting involved with TWICB? A. We have been amazed and delighted with the amount of engagement and feedback we have received during our first year, via social media, email etc. The UK Craft Beer Community is clearly engaged, knowledgeable and sociable! We want to provide a mechanism for bringing the community into our creative process, allowing people to participate in the planning, research, production and delivery of our products.

Q. Why do you have to charge for things? A. TWICB is run by just two people: Rob and Steve. Whilst it is undoubtedly a labour of love, it has developed into something that consumes a significant part of our working weeks. Steve works mainly on the Newsletter, where the New Beers Section alone takes many hours per week, to research, collate and format. Rob works mainly on the podcast, where each episode takes several hours to schedule, research, record, edit and promote. Whilst we will continue to invest this time to produce the free products, we think Patreon could be a great way of funding the time and effort that we want to devote to developing new products and services.

Q. Apart from your time, what specifically will the Patreon proceeds be used to fund? A. As soon as the COVID-19 situation permits, we want to take the podcast on the road, to record Brewer interviews at their own Taprooms, as well as record live segments at Festivals, Tap-Takeovers and other beery events of note. In order to provide a quality finished audio product, we will need to invest in some decent mobile recording equipment, not to mention the cost of travelling the length and breadth of Britain in the pursuit of great interviews!

Q. What is the thought process behind the bundles of Patreon Membership bonuses that you are offering? A. We have tried to come up with bundles that combine some community benefits, exclusive digital products, exclusive physical products, invites to exclusive TWICB events, discounts on TWICB Grand Tours and opportunities to participate in the TWICB creative process. We have tried to price each Membership Level so that each offers outstanding value for money. We have also tried to be mindful of the number of Patreon members that we can realistically include in each bonus activity. (Clearly the invite to participate in the podcast interview or attend the TWICB "Board Meeting" needs to be strictly limited in numbers, or else the bonus would cease to be "exclusive” and would risk disrupting the actual process itself.)

Q. Are the Membership Benefits and Levels set in stone? A. Of course not! We are literally making this up as we go along currently! We would love to get your feedback on the Levels, the Benefits, and indeed the very idea of using Patreon in the first place!
