2015 La Bollina Dry Gavi product-timed-pdf - DOCG, *Inagural Release - "Very Good"- WE | The Region's Famous White

Why We're Drinking It

Lively winemaking. While completely Piemontese, this wine is sourced from a location in close proximity to and it shows with its refreshing, light and fruity style. The creme de la creme of Piedmont’s whites. If you’re not aware, Gavi is the shining star among Piedmont whites. It’s made from 100% and credited as the heroine who introduced the international wine scene to Italian whites.

Top-quality. The varietal grows in Gavi like nowhere else, not even anywhere else in Piedmont. Optimal ripeness and balanced acidity are at its best in the region. Oh, and did we mention this vintage’s potential age-worthiness? Well, it is above and beyond even our expectations.

One hot vintage. 2015 went down in history as the hottest July in Piedmont since 1880. A potential recipe for disaster - remember the scorcher known as 2003 - turned into a beautiful vintage thanks to the hard work and increased knowledge of the local vintners. Reports of high quality stretched across Langhe and its many varietals as healthy vines and even grape ripening flourished. And to top it all off, "Gavi DOCG 2015" received the encomium as wine recommended by the jury in the 2016 edition of Decanter World Wine Awards.

Reviews

The wine is clean on the nose with presence of stone fruits, honeysuckle and white flowers. Soft round mouthfeel with confirmation of white peaches and nectarines the dominate fruit qualities. The finish shows some minerality but it's mostly about the fruit and acid interplay. We love this wine; drinking well right now and nothing to gain with aging. Get after this with all sorts of ocean fare. Highly recommended by the Insider panel. -DZ 3/17

"This opens with aromas that recall white wild flower, orchard fruit and a hint of beeswax. The medium-bodied palate offers creamy white peach, vanilla, citrus and a hint of white almond alongside bright acidity.- Wine Enthusiast
