What began in 1901, with seven member clubs and a goal to identify the best amateur player, today encompasses nearly PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE PRESIDENT’S 35 state championships, national qualifiers and numerous regional and club competitions. Min- nesota consistently ranks at or near the top in golfer participation and represents an industry that means $2.3 billion annually to the state’s economy. Clearly, we are passionate about playing the game and take seriously our role as its steward. I am looking forward to an exciting 2019 season as we embrace an entirely new set of rules with the 2019 edition of the Rules of Golf (effective Jan. 1) and we continue to engage more female golfers through programming and competitions. And, now that the Youth on Course program is enter- ing its second full year, we expect to see a surge Tom Smith, in youth golf participation at our public facilities. MGA President In association with 15 allied organizations representing those who make a living from the game to those who see the game as a way to improve the lives of others, the new MGA is a year-round non-profit organization that serves the game for all golfers in Minnesota. The MGA actively supports, financially and otherwise, a diverse number of organizations like the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars program and a number of other organizations that promote the game to disabled golfers, disadvantaged youth and groups that have traditionally found challenges in their paths when it comes to the game of golf. The reason the MGA is able to give back to the game is first and foremost because of the 66,000 associate members and the more than 400 member golf courses who choose to join in and support the MGA. Our exceptional staff, board members, ambassadors and volunteers turn this support into programs and services on behalf of the game in our state. Thanks, everyone. Your support is so greatly appreciated. Together let’s make 2019 a great year for the game that we all love so much! 4 mngolf.org 2019 MGA Yearbook and Media Guide MGA OFFICERS MGA OFFICERSMGA Tom Smith, Mike Malone, MGA President Vice President As president, Smith leads As vice president, the executive committee Malone fulfills the and board of directors in duties of the president developing policies and when the latter is absent programs of the MGA or unavailable to per- and appoints chairs to form the office. GENERAL MANAGER PROFILE: COLORADO GOLF CLUB Parker, CO GENERAL MANAGER AT COLORADO GOLF CLUB Colorado Golf Club is looking for a General Manager who will be a strong, detail oriented leader and will guide the club as it grows to membership capacity. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience with high revenue lines, food and beverage management and membership engagement. COLORADO GOLF CLUB When designers Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw went to work on the Championship Course at Colorado Golf Club, they envisioned a strategic and natural layout capable of testing golfers of the very highest ability and hosting major championships. They succeeded on all levels. Golfers of all skill levels enjoy the challenges encountered on the Championship Course, which stretches up to 7,604 yards and plays to par-72 and features multiple lines of play. In addition to the Championship Course, Coore and Crenshaw have designed a nine-hole Short Course that winds through the Ponderosa pines in the upper part of the Colorado Golf Club property. LINKS Magazine calls it one of the best in the country. The Short Course is a perfect late afternoon family getaway. The practice area at Colorado Golf Club is ranked among the best in America by Golf Digest. With dramatic views of Pikes Peak, Devils Head and Mount Evans, the sweeping, downhill range is a beautiful place to work on one’s game. The practice area features: Two 120-yard tee boxes and a hidden “private” tee Five bunkered target greens maintained to on-course specifications A 7,000-square-foot short game area with bunkers, rough, collars and closely mown chipping areas An 8,000-square-foot putting green Colorado Golf Club's dramatic old-world clubhouse opened on October 1, 2011.

May 26, 2021 The Honorable Members of the California State Assembly State Capitol Sacramento, CA 95814 RE: Thousands of CA Public School Students Strongly Urge Support for AB 101 Dear Members of the Assembly, We are a coalition of California high school and college students known as Teach Our History California. Made up of the youth organizations Diversify Our Narrative and GENup, we represent 10,000 youth leaders from across the State fighting for change. Our mission is to ensure that students across California high schools have meaningful opportunities to engage with the vast, diverse, and rich histories of people of color; and thus, we are in deep support of AB101 which will require high schools to provide ethnic studies starting in academic year 2025-26 and students to take at least one semester of an A-G approved ethnic studies course to graduate starting in 2029-30. Our original petition made in support of AB331, linked here, was signed by over 26,000 CA students and adult allies in support of passing Ethnic Studies. Please see appended to this letter our letter in support of AB331, which lists the names of all our original petition supporters. We know AB101 has the capacity to have an immense positive impact on student education, but also on student lives as a whole. For many students, our communities continue to be systematically excluded from narratives presented to us in our classrooms. By passing AB101, we can change the precedent of exclusion and allow millions of students to learn the histories of their peoples.
