By M/s. Shri. Kedarnath Mining & Earthmovers Co. through State Govt. P A R T – I (To be filled up by user agency) 1. Project details: i) Short narrative of the proposal M/s. Shri. Kedarnath Mining & Earthmovers and project/scheme for which Co. is a partnership firm having a mining the forest land is required lease of Laterite over an extent of 13 Ha. ‘Savarde Bk Laterite Mine’ at Savarde Bk Village, Shahuwadi Tahasil, Kolhapur District, Maharashtra State. The lease area covers 13 Ha. of forest land. The location of the Mining Plan is shown in the key plan enclosed vide Plate No. 1 and a lease sketch is enclosed vide Plate No. 2. On conducting a detailed survey of the entire area of 13 Ha. it is found that 13 Ha of forest land is required for mining activities for systematic and scientific exploitation of the Laterite Minerals. As per the FC Act 1980, lease requires clearances from the forest department for 13 Ha. Forest Proposal M/s. Shri. Kedarnath Mining & Earthmovers Co. Savarde Bk Laterite Mines This area contains mainly Laterite. This mining project shall produce Laterite analyzing above 30% Al2O3 content which is located mainly in the reserved forests. It is estimated that about 2.64 million tons of ore reserves are available from this area. It is proposed to mechanise the mine and produce max. @ 1,00,000 to 1,50,000 MT per annum of Laterite for cement factory or other purpose. The mine has about 2.64 million tons of Laterite reserves which can easily last for a period of 20 years and hence, diversion is sought for 20 years from the Ministry of Environment & Forests. Mining leases are site-specific projects in Kolhapur district. Most of the Laterite deposits are located in the forest area, where as cement grade Laterite is available in revenue lands. Thus there are no alternatives left than to opt for the forest land. However, this is a mining lease area and proposals are being forwarded for obtaining clearance under F.C. Act, 1980 from forest department. This project shall contribute positively to the uplift of the backward region by way of creating employment opportunities in the drought prone region. Forest Proposal M/s. Shri. Kedarnath Mining & Earthmovers Co. Savarde Bk Laterite Mines ii) Map showing the required A key plan (Location )is enclosed vide Plate forest land, boundary of No. 1, Forest land boundary (on Village adjoining forest on a 1:5000 map) and lease sketch is enclosed vide Plate scale map. No. 2 showing the mining lease and adjoining forest areas. The area required for the project is also clearly marked. The barest minimum area of 13 Ha. of forest land is required to continue the mining operations. A land use surface plan is enclosed vide Plate No. 3. And Geologically plan is enclosed vide plate No. 4 iii) Cost of the project The lessee is intent to invest about Rs. 5 Crores for development of mines and other related activities. For mechanization of the mine further investment of Rs. 5 Crores is proposed during the mining operations. iv) Justification for locating the Laterite mining leases are site-specific project in forest area. projects. The recommended mining lease is located in the part of the reserved forest. The Laterite is not available in any revenue lands. The Laterite deposits are only located in the hill ranges, which forms a part of reserved forest. The plateau has an altitude of 990 meters (approx.) from MSL. It has been established during exploratory survey that the laterite deposits of desired grade are confined Forest Proposal M/s. Shri. Kedarnath Mining & Earthmovers Co. Savarde Bk Laterite Mines to few pockets. Since laterite deposits are geo-site specific there are no other alternative sites which has laterite deposits. Geologically it is recognized that higher plateau are the only potential sites of laterite deposits, Thus there is no alternative left than to opt for the forest land. Since fresh areas are required to be broken, this proposal is being forwarded for obtaining clearance under F.C. Act, 1980. v) Cost benefit analysis (to be Refer Annexure – enclosed) vi) Employment likely to be The company will generate the employment generated for about 100 persons directly and 100 persons indirectly and thus a population of 1000 people will be benefited from this project.
