The present study focus on Published : 31.12.2017 avifaunal diversity and population status of threatened bird species by Diversity indices at in and around the wetlands of Kolhapur from 2016- Editor: 2017. Bird survey was conducted according to line transect method and Dr. Arvind Chavhan standard point count method. Species Diversity indices and Simpson index were used for statistical analysis. A total of 159 species of birds belonging to Cite this article as: 17 orders and 60 families were recorded, of those 109 species of terrestrial Patil Nachiket Suryakant (2017) birds and 50 species of water birds were observed. Out of 159 birds, 93 Avifauna and Comparative Study of Threatened Birds at Urban Wetlands residential, 50 residential migratory and 15 are migratory. Among International J. of Life Sciences, 5 (4): the birds recorded in study area, about 43% were insectivores and other 649-660. dominating types include mixed diet 10%, piscivores 15%, omnivores 9%, carnivores 9%, granivores 9%, fructivores 2% and nectivores 3% Acknowledgement respectively. -

Ministry of Environment and Forests Wildlife Division Minutes of the 20 th Meeting of the Standing Committee of National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) held on 13 th October 2010 in 403, Paryavaran Bhavan, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003. The 20 th meeting of Standing Committee of NBWL was held on 13th October, 2010 in Room No. 403, Paryavaran Bhawan, New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment & Forests. A list of delegates who attended the meeting is at Annexure-1. At the outset, Hon’ble Chairman welcomed all the Members of the Standing Committee for National Board for Wildlife (NBWL). It was followed by discussion on agenda items. AGENDA ITEM NO. 1 Confirmation of the minutes: The Member Secretary informed that the draft minutes of last meeting was circulated to all the Members and no comments had been received in this regard. Thereafter, the minutes of 19 th Meeting of Standing Committee of NBWL were confirmed unanimously. As it is the only college in the Taluka place of Kagal, I know from my personal experience how important DRM can be in shaping life and career of the students coming nearly from 35 surrounding villages in rural and hilly areas. We are dedicated to realize our mission – “Duritache Timir Jawo” (May the darkness of disability, misdeeds, corruption, wickedness and ignorance in the society be eradicated). Our aim in this college is to motivate the socially and economically disadvantaged and poor students from rural area for education. We not merely focus on imparting knowledge, but also developing the overall personality of the students. With this holistic approach, we aim at enabling the students to face the future challenges confidently. While submitting this report we sincerely believe that getting re-accreditation from the esteemed body like NAAC, is a matter of great pride and privilege for us.
